Rangana Herath to captain Sri Lanka in Mathews' absence

Sri Lankan bowler Rangana Herath will be captaining Sri Lanka in the Tests against Zimbabwe during their tour of Zimbabwe.

Regular captain Angelo Mathews has been injured and is ruled out of the tour.

Mathews is expected to be out of action for three weeks and is also doubtful for the tri-series in Zimbabwe.

Vice-captain Dinesh Chandimal has also been ruled out due to a thumb injury, which has led to the appointment of Rangana Herath as the captain.

Herath will be the oldest player to captain a Test team for the first time.

Sri Lanka also announced their Test squad for the Tests against Zimbabwe, which included Mathews.
