Kumble steps down as India coach

Anil Kumble has reportedly stepped down as the coach of the Indian cricket team ahead of the tour of West Indies.

Kumble who didn’t travel with the team in order to attend an ICC meeting earlier today was expected to join the squad later.

The sources said, Kumble is a part of ICC's cricket committee. He has sent his resignation to BCCI CEO.

As something of this sorts was expected to happen, when some of the Indian players expressed their unwillingness to work with the former Indian spinner.

Despite the apparent tensions, Kumble has had a brilliant run as coach, helping the Kohli-led side win all five Test series since his appointment in June last year.

Kumble had re-applied for the India coach job recently.

Just hours after resigning as India coach, Kumble said,

informed for the first time yesterday [Monday] by the BCCI that the captain had reservations with my style and about my continuing as head coach. It was apparent the partnership [with Virat Kohli] was untenable, and I therefore believe it is best for me to move on.
