129.3 - Doug Bracewell to Voges, FOUR, butchered down the ground. Seems like a window has been given to Voges to complete his ton. Nothing wrong with the delivery whatseover, on a good length just outside off, Voges hammers it with a cross-bat wide of mid-on who could do nothing to stop despite a dive

126.3 - Craig to Voges, FOUR, third time lucky for Voges! Finally he gets the reverse sweep behind the man at backward point. Was there to be played as the ball was delivered on a sweeping length and he times it crisply

121.3 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, a gift. Low full toss on the pads, flicked away disdainfully through mid-wicket

121.1 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, 150 up for Usman Khawaja! Not the most convincing way to get there but he'll take it. Hint of late curl away from the left-hander after being angled in on a length on off, Khawaja closes the bat face too early in looking to work it through the on-side and the leading edge threads the slip cordon and gully

120.5 - Craig to Voges, FOUR, Watling goes up in appeal for a paddled sweep that has come right off the middle. Sums up New Zealand's plight. It was teased up on a length outside off, Voges gets across on one knee and helps it fine

118.3 - Craig to Khawaja, FOUR, brings up the 100-run stand with a flairy slog-sweep over mid-wicket. The ball was drifting in on the stumps and could have been a problem had he missed but he read the length so well to put it away

118.0 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, and here we go again. Short with ample width, Khawaja back cuts it through the slips and gully for an easy boundary

117.0 - Craig to Voges, FOUR, this has been the problem - the inconsistencies in length. Drops it short once more and Voges delightfully hammers the pull through square leg

114.3 - Craig to Voges, FOUR, he gets the desired result on this occasion. Short and outside off, Voges goes on the back foot and cuts it past backward point for a boundary

112.1 - Craig to Khawaja, FOUR, that's been smashed! Khawaja kneels down and slogs this flighted delivery over the bowler's head, no need to run for those

109.4 - Neesham to Voges, FOUR, just not good enough. The variance in length is too alarming. Now too short, Voges belts the pull wide of mid-on

108.5 - Craig to Voges, FOUR, loopy delivery which lands too full wide of off, drilled to the cover fence

108.3 - Craig to Voges, FOUR, drops it short yet again and punished. Voges rocks back and pulls fiercely behind square

100.3 - Doug Bracewell to Khawaja, FOUR, oh there is no margin for error at all. Drift slightly on the pads and this lad will pick you away. On a length in line with leg stump, Khawaja whips it very fine, finer than perhaps even he would have intended

98.4 - Doug Bracewell to Voges, FOUR, for once he has erred in length and has been crashed behind point. Short with ample width on offer, Voges stands tall and slaps it hard

98.2 - Doug Bracewell to Voges, FOUR, again a batsman gets squared up by the late movement. Bracewell can count himself unlucky. The thick outside edge rolls away piercing the slip cordon and gully. Back of a length delivery angled in on off before nipping away, Voges' bat comes down at an angle as he looks to defend and is done in

95.2 - Boult to Voges, FOUR, McCullum hurtles across the turf, puts in the dive attempting to flick the ball back but misses it altogether. Crisp forward push from Voges, nothing more. Boult goes full searching for the movement on off and that's the gamble you have to take

92.4 - Southee to Smith, FOUR, oh gorgeous! One of the best sights in our sport. And tell you what, that was no half-volley either. Fraction fuller than a good length with some away shape in the channel outside off, Smith covers for the movement and drives it on the up down the ground. Mid-off is too wide

87.0 - Doug Bracewell to Smith, FOUR, Smith is also looking in fabulous touch. Looks like he wants to take his number one Test ranking back from Root, who hasn't had a good last Test match in UAE. Well, this was full on the stumps, Smith comes forward, offers the full face of the bat and drives it to the left of mid-on, who had no chance of stopping that. Crashes into the fence in no time

85.1 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, maiden Test ton for Khawaja! A lot of eyes were on him before this match even started and well, he has not disappointed his fans one bit. Looks a little emotional as he takes his helmet off, leaps high and punches the air in delight. He then looks skywards and Smith hugs him, says a few words of praise. Big achievement this for him. Coming to the ball, it was short and down the leg-side, Khawaja swivels across and pulls it very fine, beats the man at long leg to his left

84.3 - Southee to Smith, FOUR, those wrists come in use once again. You are making a mistake if you drift onto Smith's pads, he flicks it through square leg and it races away to the fence

83.5 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, lovely shot! Khawaja has been very impressive today. Fuller length delivery swinging away just outside off, Khawaja offers the full face of the bat and drives it past the non-striker, mid-on didn't even try to chase it down. The timing was sublime

83.1 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, short of length delivery outside off, Khawaja could very well have left that alone, but he decides to open the face of the bat at the last moment, gets it to the left of backward point, three Kiwi fielders give chase but lose out to the ball

82.1 - Southee to Smith, FOUR, short and wide, got the treatment it deserved. Smith rocks back and cuts it fiercely in the gap between backward point and gully, it was in the air for a little while but it rocketed away to the fence

78.5 - Craig to Khawaja, FOUR, Craig drags it short and Khawaja quickly gets on the back foot, pulls it in front of square on the on-side,

77.3 - Doug Bracewell to Smith, FOUR, for the umpteenth time, a short ball has been sent scurrying away to the fence. Completes 1000 runs in Tests in 2015. Short delivery on off, Smith swivels across and pulls it to the deep square leg fence

73.3 - Craig to Khawaja, FOUR, good strike from Khawaja! He uses his feet to get to the pitch of the ball, lifts it over the man at mid-on, no need to run for those

72.5 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, poor from Boult! He is having a very poor day at the office. Short and outside off, Smith swivels across and drags it through the mid-wicket region for another boundary

72.4 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, bit of width on offer and Smith latches onto it. He reaches out and cuts it in the gap between gully and backward point, who gives chase, puts in the dive near the rope but to no avail

71.0 - Neesham to Smith, FOUR, you can't keep bowling short to every batsman that comes out to bat. New Zealand are not learning their lessons. This was short and well outside off, Smith fetches the pull from there and sends it to the deep mid-wicket fence for his first boundary

70.2 - Neesham to Warner, FOUR, 100 of the partnership comes up with this boundary. Short of length delivery outside off, Warner stays back, opens the face of the bat late and guides it in the gap between slip and gully, races away to the fence

66.2 - Neesham to Warner, FOUR, and again Warner's bat will be raised. Now for the 150! Neesham will think that he has been thoroughly wronged. A perfectly good delivery has been dispatched. That's Warner for you. Just a trifle fuller than a good length around the fifth stump line from round the wicket, Warner presses towards the ball and punches it through extra-cover

63.2 - Williamson to Khawaja, FOUR, hops back, waits for the ball to arrive and back-cuts it nearly out of the keeper's glove. Guptill from backward point gives a hearty chase and puts in a head-first dive near the ropes but all in vain

57.2 - Craig to Khawaja, FOUR, hasn't he looked good too? Scoring ever so freely. Drifting in nice and slow on the stumps, he sinks low and sweeps it behind square. Right off the meat

55.5 - Craig to Warner, FOUR, poor stuff. Anyway Warner is thrashing good deliveries to the fence and you give him a long-hop. Not on. He jumps back in the crease and pulls it away to the deep mid-wicket fence

55.3 - Craig to Warner, FOUR, take that! This man never stops. Loopy delivery drifting in on middle, Warner reads length so early, is down on one knee and hammers the slog-sweep over mid-wicket

52.5 - Williamson to Warner, FOUR, Tea is not far away but Warner won't miss out on a scoring opportunity. Williamson bowls a full toss outside off, Warner goes slightly across and drills it in the gap between mid-wicket and mid-on, races away to the fence

50.4 - Southee to Warner, FOUR, such is the power of the man, even mistimed shots run away to the fence. On a good length and outside off, Warner reaches across and pushes at it, gets it more off the inside half of the bat than anything, the bowler can't stop it and the fielder from mid-on comes second in his chase

46.5 - Southee to Khawaja, FOUR, Khawaja is also getting in the groove now. Half-volley just outside off from round the wicket, Khawaja comes forward and laces the drive to the left of mid-off, who dives chase but the ball beats him to the fence. The elegance of a left-hander also added to the beauty of the shot

42.5 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, in the air and safe! Another one that's short outside off, Khawaja goes on the back foot and pulls it in the air to the left of short mid-wicket, who dives across but can't get a hand on it, the fielder gives chase but the ball trickles away to the fence

42.1 - Boult to Warner, FOUR, short of length delivery outside off, Warner quickly moves across, gets into position and hacks the pull through the gap between mid-wicket and mid-on, no need to run for those

41.1 - Craig to Khawaja, FOUR, cracked off the back foot! This is poor bowling from Craig, keeps bowling it short and keeps getting hit for a boundary. Now, Khawaja goes deep in the crease and cuts it through the cover region, runs away to the fence

39.1 - Craig to Warner, FOUR, a very poor start to the new spell for Craig. Bowls a rank long hop outside off, Warner wouldn't miss out on it, he rocks back and pulls it to the wide long-on fence

37.2 - Neesham to Burns, FOUR, filthy delivery gets what it deserved. Short and wide, Burns rolls his wrists to get on top of the bounce and cracks the cut square of the wicket

35.2 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, FOUR, typical Warner riposte. Knew nothing about the previous delivery but has put it behind. This one is full in his half and it's crashed through extra-cover

35.1 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, FOUR, edged and wide of second slip. Was over the cordon anyway. This delivery rears up from a back of a length and startles Warner, he takes his bottom hand off while fending at it but the ball catches the left shoulder of the bat and balloons away

34.2 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, now Burns is starting to take liberties. Fuller length delivery wide of off, he deliberately slices the drive behind point after a big stride forward

33.1 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, FOUR, this is soul-shattering for the bowler. Just the sound it made off the willow will make you cringe in pain. Bangs it in short, Warner rocks back and pummels the pull over mid-wicket. Wow! Don't bowl short to this man

32.5 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, pure timing, nothing else! On a back of a length outside off, Burns waits on the back foot and punches it right under his nose behind square on the off-side. Once it found the gap, was always four

31.4 - Southee to Burns, leg byes, FOUR, just not able to build the pressure. Too loose too often. Straying on leg stump with a back of a length delivery, Burns fails to connect with his glance and the ball flies to the left of the diving keeper into the fence

31.2 - Southee to Burns, FOUR, he has smashed that! Short delivery on the stumps, Burns transfers his weight on the back foot after his initial movement forward and plonks the pull behind square. Didn't bother to keep it along the ground either

28.5 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, ordinary stuff from Boult. Attempts a bumper without much purpose and ends up fluffling in direction too. It's down the leg-side and Burns helps the pull very fine beating fine leg to the ropes

26.2 - Boult to Warner, FOUR, the bowler lets out a grunt in frustration. Not much going their way. Hint of away-shape squared Warner up on his defence and took a thick outside edge. Went straight down though and pierced the gap between the slip cordon and gully to run away

23.5 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, full toss just outside off, Burns doesn't miss out on the freebie, he places it to perfection as he opens the face of the bat and guides it in the gap between second slip and gully, who dives across to his left but the ball was far away from his reach

23.3 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, short and angling away outside off, Burns goes on the back foot and pulls it past a leaping mid-wicket, he couldn't quite get the elevation he wanted but it's good enough to beat the man there, races away to the fence in a hurry

21.2 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, FOUR, you bowl it short and Warner will latch onto it in a flash. He quickly transfers his weight on the back foot and pulls this short delivery through mid-wicket, races away to the fence in no time

19.2 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, FOUR, edged and safe! Angled across off on a fuller length, Warner gets lured to go hard on the drive, gets a thick outside edge that flies away in the gap between gully and backward point, who gives chase but the ball beats him to the fence

17.5 - Doug Bracewell to Burns, FOUR, in the air and safe! A bumper from Bracewell, Burns goes hard on the pull and gets a top-edge that balloons over the infield on the on-side but splits the two fielder in the deep - long leg and deep square leg, the fielder from long leg runs across to his left, puts in the dive near the rope, gets a hand on it as well but can't stop the ball from trickling away to the fence

16.5 - Craig to Burns, FOUR, once again Burns steps out of the crease. Goes for the inside-out loft yet again and he gets the better off the bowler one more time, middles it to perfection and it bounces once before hitting the fence

16.2 - Craig to Burns, FOUR, drilled! Burns uses his feet to get to the pitch of this tossed up delivery outside off, he goes hard on the drive and nails it in the gap between extra cover and mid-off

15.2 - Doug Bracewell to Burns, FOUR, good shot from Burns! Brings up the 50 for Australia. On a back of a length and outside off, Burns stands tall and punches it in the gap between backward point and gully, no need to run for those

15.0 - Craig to Warner, FOUR, Craig once again pays the price for bowling it down leg, Warner kneels down and sweeps it very fine, the ball hurries across the turf and crashes into the fence in no time. That came right off the meat

9.2 - Boult to Warner, FOUR, crashed through extra cover, Warner is officially done with leaving outside off. Was a half-volley and he murders it off the front foot. In the air but screaming away

9.0 - Southee to Warner, FOUR, woah, ominous signs! Wasn't a bad delivery at all unlike the previous boundary in this over. Just a tad full and angling away around the fourth stump line, driven on the up down the ground. No chance for mid-off who is too wide

8.4 - Southee to Warner, FOUR, that famous crunch off the front foot through the covers. Leans towards the full pitched delivery outside off and packs a punch through the gap. The fielder gives chase. Don't ask me why

7.2 - Boult to Warner, FOUR, streaky, streaky! The ball woofs past the outstretched left hand of a diving Williamson at gully. A back of a length delivery just outside off, Warner is cramped for room in his punch but he goes through with the shot. In the air and Warner survives

5.4 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, that's how you do it. Nothing half-hearted about this one. Lunges forward to a delivery teased up outside off, makes a brilliant connection with the drive behind point and the ball skims away on this pristine turf

61.2 - Craig to Khawaja, SIX, yowza! Magnificent hit! Even better than the previous one. Ventures down the pitch, makes sure he has enough swinging room and nonchalantly lofts it over extra-cover

59.4 - Craig to Khawaja, SIX, continues to grow in confidence. Mighty strike down the ground. Khawaja is down the track in a flash with his twinkle feet, reaches close enough to the pitch and meets the ball with a clean swing of the arms to send it over the long-off fence

21.4 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, SIX, smoked it! That's been smashed by Warner. What power this little dynamite packs! Just a length delivery from Bracewell, Warner plants his front foot across and hammers it straight over the sightscreen. Poses for the photographers with the followthrough. Clean striking that!

130.2 - Williamson to Khawaja, out Caught by Guptill!! Khawaja falls and the declaration comes. A bit surprising if you ask me as Voges was nearing a hundred. Would have been his first ton at home. But this is the Australian way. Personal milestones are only secondary to the team's cause. Anyway, coming back to the wicket. Well tossed up delivery around off, this time Khawaja decides to play the reverse sweep but never got on top of the bounce. Ends up spooning the ball off a thick top edge in front of backward point. Guptill rushes forward and puts in a full length dive to pluck it inches from the turf. Khawaja c Guptill b Williamson 174(239) [4s-16 6s-2]

93.3 - Boult to Smith, out Bowled!! A ripper, well bowled Boulty! If Smith was befuddled, you can be sure it would have knocked over most of the top-order. Angled away from over the wicket and then swings back in sharply on a good length, Smith was already committed to the extravagant off-drive on the rise, leaves a gaping gap between bat and pad not anticipating the movement, and the ball does enough to kiss the off stump high up. Smith b Boult 48(78) [4s-8]

70.4 - Neesham to Warner, out Caught by Ross Taylor!! You needed something extraordinary to get Warner out and Taylor has provided just that. This was bowled slightly wide outside off, Warner flashes hard at it, gets a thick outside edge that flies towards the lone fielder at slip, Taylor times his jump to perfection, plucks the ball out of thin air with his left hand to take a stunner. The crowd gives a standing ovation to the Aussie vice-captain, who gets a pat on the back by his skipper Steven Smith. A brilliant innings comes to an end. Warner c Ross Taylor b Neesham 163(224) [4s-19 6s-1]

38.5 - Southee to Burns, out Caught by Watling!! And just when the Kiwi bowlers looked to be completely at the mercy of this duo, Southee gets one to move away and induces the outside edge. Looking at the replays, wasn't a delivery which Burns needed to play at. Fraction fuller than a good length around the fifth stump line, Burns wants to have a feel for the ball and offers a flirtatious poke but is done in by the late movement. Boy, didn't New Zealand need this! Burns c Watling b Southee 71(120) [4s-12]

128.3 - Williamson to Khawaja, 3 runs, the landmarks keep getting scaled! Now the 150 of the partnership comes up. Pushed through quicker just outside off, the length is slightly short, Khawaja waits on the back foot and dabs it as late as possible to place it fine. Backward point gives hot pursuit

115.5 - Williamson to Voges, 1 run, fifty for Voges! Raises his bat to acknowledge the applause. This was floated up on the stumps, Voges comes slightly across and works it through mid-wicket for a single

61.5 - Craig to Khawaja, 1 run, drifting in on the pads on a fullish length, Khawaja flicks it through mid-wicket and gets to his 3rd Test fifty with a single. Raises his bat to the applause from the Gabba crowd

47.2 - Craig to Warner, 2 runs, The Gabba crowd are on their feet as Warner reaches his hundred! He roars in delight as he takes off his helmet and pumps his bat in the air. The Aussie vice-captain drew some flak for not scoring even a single hundred in the Ashes, but he has responded really well today. Coming to the delivery, it was short and wide outside off, Warner slaps it past a diving cover-point, comes back for the second as well

28.1 - Boult to Burns, 2 runs, that's fifty for Joe Burns! Gets a good ol' handshake from his partner. 3rd half-century in Tests. Reaches the landmark with a solid push off the front foot through the cover region

24.2 - Neesham to Warner, 1 run, straying on the hips, Warner hops back and nurdles it round the corner

22.4 - Neesham to Warner, 4 runs, slightly uppish but in the gap. Brilliant running from these two, Warner especially. Raises his bat to acknowledge the applause for his fifty. This was on a good length and just outside off, Warner drives it in the air but gets it in the gap through the cover region, the fielder gives it chase, can only haul the ball just before the rope and that gave the batsmen (or Warner) enough time to come back for the fourth run as well

19.3 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, no run, fullish delivery on the pads, Warner fails to work it away and wears it on the pad. The Kiwis thought that it was close to hitting the stumps, but they didn't realise that it pitched well outside leg. Waste of a review from New Zealand

81.2 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, too easy these. Back of a length outside off, Williamson punches it behind point with a roll of the wrists

79.2 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, now this one is over him. Williamson the batsman this time and he nails the pull. Didn't bother to keep it along the ground and gets it just over Starc's head at fine leg. The ball strikes the ad cushions on the half-volley

78.0 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, sumptuous! No where near a half volley. Good length ball just outside off, Williamson leans forward maintaining a solid base, and nails the drive behind point. Musical stuff

77.2 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, the off-cutter which angles across off, Williamson is watching it like a hawk, waits on the crease and runs it with an open face between second slip and gully

76.3 - Mitchell Marsh to Southee, FOUR, we are in for some fun here. Fasten your belts. Fraction full, and Southee has decided that anything in his half has to go. Clears his front leg and meets it with a swipe down the ground. Enough to clear mid-on

75.1 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, so effortless. Here's the intimidating Johnson steaming in and he simple dabs it right off the meat behind square. Admittedly, wasn't one of his quickest deliveries. Back of a length outside off, loosener, Williamson simply "taps it on its head" as Ian Chappell says

75.0 - Mitchell Marsh to Southee, FOUR, poor ball. Straying on the hips, all Southee needed to do was get a tickle and it skims away

73.3 - Lyon to Williamson, FOUR, another boundary and it is in the same region as the first one in the over. Lyon drags the length short and outside off, Williamson goes back and cuts it behind square on the off-side

73.1 - Lyon to Williamson, FOUR, lovely shot! Great use of the crease, Williamson went right back and made a bit of room as well, cuts it to deep backward point. No one in the deep to stop that. Williamson still searching for runs even though it is the last over before lunch

70.2 - Johnson to Doug Bracewell, FOUR, where did that come from? Until now, Bracewell was happy blocking and suddenly out of nowhere he tonks one over mid-off. The length also helped him as it was full and allowed him to get underneath it, one bounce and four

66.3 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, second four and he moves close to his hundred. It was tad overpitched and outside off, Williamson leans forward, in fact gets a good stride and creams the drive through cover, he had to reach out as it was too wide, but gets there with ease. The timing also was impeccable

66.2 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, cut and cut hard. Shortish and hint of width on offer, Williamson transfers his weight on the back foot and cuts it behind square, past the diving gully and into the third man fence

58.5 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, wow! I can watch him bat all day long. Keep em coming Kane. This was no half-volley let me tell you, just a fraction full, that's enough for Williamson though. Leans forward and nails the extra-cover drive on the rise

57.0 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, nothing length this one. Bread and butter for a man of the class of Williamson, transfers his weight on the back foot and crunches the pull through mid-wicket

56.1 - Hazlewood to Craig, FOUR, "catch" is the cry for a fleeting moment, dies down soon enough as the ball roars past short mid-off. Fullish and angling across off, Craig stays leg-side of the ball and meets it with a flowy drive. Was in the air but not close enough to the fielder

55.5 - Johnson to Craig, FOUR, Johnson goes for the two-card trick. A bumper followed by one right up. The batsman isn't to be fooled. Manages a decent stride forward and creams the on-drive

53.3 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, is he batting on a different pitch or what! A class apart. Not to be trouble or rushed by the pace. On a back of a length around the fifth-sixth stump, he waits on the back foot and cuts it as late as possible. The ball whistles away behind point

52.1 - Starc to Williamson, FOUR, the first loose shot Williamson has played this morning. This innings for that matter. Must be careful not to get flustered by the goings-on at the other end. Invitingly full and angling wide of off, draws the batsman into a loose drive with chained feet, only manages to slice it off a thick outside edge. Flies away through the vacant backward point region

50.3 - Starc to Williamson, FOUR, risk and reward! Don't blame the Aussie bowler for erring a bit too full this morning. That's where the edges can be found. Not on this occasion though, Williamson just too good. Pristine off-drive straight of mid-off

49.4 - Hazlewood to Watling, FOUR, width on offer and this is crunched off the back foot. Back and across goes Watling and slaps it in front of square. The ball teases Lyon all the way and just sneaks over the ad cushions beating his valiant dive

49.1 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, woah! Liquid batting this. It was there to be put away, pitched right up and Williamson flows into the on-drive. Mid-on is too wide

48.4 - Starc to Watling, FOUR, edgy but rolls along the carpet! Watling is drawn forward and forced to plat at this delivery which is pretty close to off, the left-armer's angle comes into play inducing a thickish outside edge which threads the slip cordon and gully to perfection

43.0 - Lyon to Watling, FOUR, 'Catch' was the cry but it was wide of the fielder. Tossed up on the stumps, Watling takes a step forward and whips it uppishly to the left of a diving short mid-wicket, who can't get a hand on it, trickles away to the fence

42.0 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, just short of a good length and outside off, Williamson punches it square of the wicket for a boundary. Raises his 15th Test fifty with that boundary. He has been the best Kiwi batsman today. Looked way more comfortable at the crease than the others

37.2 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, was that intentional? Don't think so but it was controlled well by Williamson. On a good length and just outside off, Williamson comes forward to push at it, plays it with soft hands, the ball takes a thick outside edge and rolls away in the gap between gully and the slip cordon, collects a boundary

35.4 - Hazlewood to Watling, FOUR, short and slightly wide outside off, Watling rocks on the back foot and cuts it uppishly past backward point, races away to the fence

35.0 - Starc to Williamson, FOUR, very full and on off, Williamson leans forward and clips it the gap between mid-on and mid-wicket, the ball crashes into the fence in no time. That was timed superbly

33.1 - Johnson to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, ohh! That's a strange shot from the Kiwi skipper. A shortish delivery just outside off, McCullum hops in the crease, opens the face of the bat at the last moment to ramp it over the gap between the slip cordon and gully

29.5 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, that's a beautiful shot! Deserves the boundary. Pitched up just outside off, Williamson leans forward and punch-drives it back past the non-striker, the bowler can't stop it in his followthrough and the timing was perfect for it to run away to the fence

28.2 - Mitchell Marsh to Latham, FOUR, drifts onto the pads and pays the price for it. It was on a back of a length, Latham glances it fine, Johnson from long leg runs to his left, slides near the rope, gets a hand on it but can't stop the ball from trickling away to the fence

24.5 - Mitchell Marsh to Williamson, FOUR, short again and pummeled again. This time on the on-side with the pull. Doesn't get it high enough to cause any sort of discomfort. And given the true nature of this pitch and a batsman of the class of Williamson, the end result was a given

24.2 - Mitchell Marsh to Williamson, FOUR, short and crunched. Just don't do that again Mitch, unless you enjoy getting smashed to the fence. Slapped in front of square

23.5 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, a sight to behold! Williamson leaning into the off-drive. The length was there from Johnson and he shouldn't be too disappointed with the result either. Gets a good stride forward and punches it firmly down the ground. Mid-off was too wide

23.0 - Lyon to Williamson, FOUR, down the track comes Williamson and tonks it with the turn over mid-wicket. A well calculated risk

19.4 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, the first real loose one from Hazlewood. Half-volley on the pads, bread and butter for Williamson, flicks it away through the mid-wicket region

15.4 - Hazlewood to Guptill, FOUR, Guptill holds the pose on the drive, just that it came off a thick outside edge. Pitched up just outside off, Guptill leans towards the ball looking for the off-drive but only manages an outside edge which dies down immediately and pierces the slip cordon and gully

10.5 - Johnson to Latham, FOUR, poor ball from Johnson and Latham latches onto it in a flash. Short and well wide outside off, Latham hops, reaches out and cuts it up and over backward point, there was no stopping that from reaching the fence

1.2 - Johnson to Latham, FOUR, Johnson needs to change his line. Once again he splays it on the pads, now Latham connects well with the flance, the short straight boundaries does the rest, races away

1.0 - Starc to Guptill, FOUR, that's beautifully done by Guptill! He presents the full face of the bat and pushes this length delivery past the non-striker, the timing was great and mid-off can't chase it down

82.2 - Starc to Williamson, out Caught by Nevill!! That's the end of that. But hang on a minute and stand for Kane Williamson. It's what the Gabba is doing right now as he makes his way off the field. What a sublime knock, a chanceless one at that. Has taken the Kiwis to a score of respectibility, much more than they could have bargained at 118/5. Coming to the wicket, a fuller length delivery swinging back in from just outside off, Williamson goes for the booming drive down the ground but is undone by the late movement and finds only a feather of an inside edge through to the keeper. Williamson c Nevill b Starc 140(178) [4s-24]

80.5 - Starc to Southee, out Bowled!! I told ya! It was only a matter of time. Even more so with a bowler like Starc who keeps it stump-to-stump. Big swing back into the right hander from a good length, Southee tries an encore, yanks his front leg away and aims a wild heave, beaten completely on the inside edge with the bat nowhere near and the off stump is uprooted. Nothing from Starc who is expressionless. Cool as you like. Southee b Starc 14(14) [4s-2]

74.4 - Mitchell Marsh to Doug Bracewell, out Bowled!! And it's a gentle medium pace delivery which sneaks through to the stumps. Why do you need to bowl quick when you can get the job done at 125 clicks. On a good length around the fourth stump line, Bracewell presses forward to defend, seemed to have it covered with bat and pad close but somehow the ball takes the inside edge onto pad and deflects into the timber. Doug Bracewell b Mitchell Marsh 16(46) [4s-1]

61.1 - Lyon to Craig, out Caught by Mitchell Marsh!! Ordinary cricket from Craig. A needless shot. He was batting so well before his No. 8 instincts took over. Sees the flight on this one, shimmies down the wicket to go big, doesn't get to the pitch and ends up having a swing at that, the ball takes the thickish outside edge and flies towards cover-point, Marsh steadies under it and takes it comfortably. Craig c Mitchell Marsh b Lyon 24(31) [4s-2]

51.1 - Johnson to Watling, out Caught by Nevill!! Talk about having a dream start, first ball into the attack from Johnson and he nicks out Watling. Easy as you like. On replays, certainly a delivery which could have been left alone. But it's the pace. The extra pace as always which makes the difference. Makes the batsman do things which he otherwise won't. Slingy back of a length delivery slanted across the left-hander, the line is around the fifth-sixth stump, Watling is drawn into a flirtatious poke. Hangs his bat out there to have a feel for the ball. Only manages a feather through to the keeper. Watling c Nevill b Johnson 32(59) [4s-4]

34.2 - Starc to Neesham, out Bowled!! The Aussies are on fire now! The Kiwis are falling like nine pins. Beaten for pace there. Starc bowls a full pacy delivery on the pads, Neesham fails to work it away and the ball ricochets off his pads and cannons into the stumps. Starc is pumped as he punches the air in delight. New Zealand have lost half their side now. Neesham b Starc 3(7)

33.2 - Johnson to Brendon McCullum, out Caught by Voges!! Oh dear! New Zealand are losing the plot here. From 102/1, they have slumped to 114/4. Nothing but a length delivery slanting away outside off, McCullum looks to punch it through the off-side, he doesn't move his feet much as he goes hard at it and ends up edging it to first slip, where Voges hangs onto the catch and tumbles afterwards. Brendon McCullum c Voges b Johnson 6(6) [4s-1]

31.3 - Johnson to Ross Taylor, out Caught by Smith!! This is a team wicket. First, Starc and now Johnson, Taylor never looked comfortable at the crease during his short stay and Johnson has nipped him out. This one was angled across off on a short of length, Taylor pokes at it away from his body, gets an outside edge and Smith at second slip pouches it with ease. Two wickets in two overs for Australia and suddenly, New Zealand are on the back foot. Ross Taylor c Smith b Johnson 0(7)

30.1 - Starc to Latham, out Caught by Lyon!! And he gets a wicket straightaway. Latham departs after a good knock, he will be very disappointed that he didn't get a big one as he was looking in good touch. This was a length delivery just outside off, Latham misjudged the length as he comes forward to drive, the bat turns in his hands and he ends up slicing it, Lyon at point moves to his right and takes the simplest of catches. Latham c Lyon b Starc 47(93) [4s-3]

17.1 - Hazlewood to Guptill, out Caught by Warner!! That nagging line from Hazlewood has priced out Gutpill. Kept probing in the channel outside off, waits and waits for the mistake and here it is. On a good length around the fourth stump line, Guptill is forced to play at it, the ball nips away just a touch and catches the outside edge. The ball flies low to the right of third slip where Warner dives across to cling on to a goodie. Guptill c Warner b Hazlewood 23(58) [4s-2]

68.1 - Johnson to Doug Bracewell, no run, dropped! Voges is the culprit. He has a few attempts before shelling it. Short of a length in the channel around off, Bracewell has a poke at it, the outside edge flies straight to first slip, went at a nice height, Voges tried to grab it, hence couldn't control it. He juggled a couple of times before the ball went to ground

12.1 - Johnson to Guptill, no run, dropped! It was a very difficult chance though. A short of length delivery on the stumps, Guptill goes on the back foot and turns it straight towards FSL, where Burns was crouching low under the helmet. The ball though went quickly off the face of the bat, he didn't have any time to react and it hits his wrists before rolling away to his left

67.0 - Johnson to Williamson, 2 runs, "take a bow," says Mark Nicholas. It has been a terrific knock. He has a fought a lone battle. Not much of a celebration from Williamson. Takes off his helmet, waves the bat around and shakes hands with his partner. This is his 11th Test hundred. Coming to the ball, short and on the hips, tucked away square on the leg-side, Williamson pushed Bracewell for the second and got it with ease

38.1 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, Boult starts from round the wicket. It doesn't matter to Burns as he keeps swinging. Full and in the arc, Burns lofts it up and over mid-off, made a good connection and earned four more

37.3 - Craig to Warner, FOUR, wow! He is leaving no stones unturned to jump on a scoring opportunity. Quicker and on the stumps, Warner backs away and flat-bats it over the bowler, got plenty of power to beat the two boundary riders

37.2 - Craig to Warner, FOUR, terrific batting. Now uses his feet to get to the pitch of the ball and smokes it straight back over the bowler's head. Long-on and long-off were there, but he split them to perfection

35.1 - Craig to Burns, FOUR, tossed up from round the wicket, right in the zone for Burns, who kneels down and nails the slog sweep, there was a fielder in the deep, but he had no chance of stopping, four more to Burns

32.2 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, FOUR, short delivery and just outside off, Warner opens the bat face and ramps it over the slip cordon, no chance for the fielder at third man

30.1 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, FOUR, no slip and Warner plays a cheeky shot. Shortish and outside off, Warner waits and steers it wide of Watling, who dives to his left and still can't reach the ball

28.4 - Doug Bracewell to Burns, FOUR, Burns has played his 50th pull of the Test match. No, not literally. I'm tired though watching it, for some reason the Kiwis aren't. Short of length, not enough pace to trouble him, rolls his wrists to get on top of the bounce and plonks it away behind square

21.0 - Neesham to Burns, FOUR, short again, pulled again, four again. When will they learn? Haven't they watched this guy pull enough already. So in his zone while playing the shot. Short of length on the body, rocks back and pulls it hard behind square all along the carpet

18.2 - Neesham to Burns, FOUR, low full toss on off, Burns gets his front pad out of the way and creams the drive straight of mid-on. Is this a benefit match going on?

16.4 - Neesham to Burns, FOUR, why isn't there a third man yet? So many boundaries have leaked in that region in this innings itself. Still left open though. Back of a length delivery wide of off, Burns dabs it late to run the ball fine. Hundred of the partnership comes up and a nice firm handshake between the two openers

14.4 - Neesham to Burns, FOUR, now errs on the other side. The variance in lines has been alarmingly shocking. Short outside off, Burns chops it off a bottom edge while looking to cut, runs away to the right of a diving keeper

14.3 - Neesham to Burns, FOUR, "control is non-existent from the Kiwi bowlers" regrets Ian Healy on air. The lead continues to swell as the filth is being put away. Straying on the hips of Burns, who moves inside the line and tickles it fine

12.5 - Neesham to Warner, FOUR, third boundary of the over and Neesham has dished out some horrible deliveries. Short and outside off, Warner waits and back cuts it to the right of gully, no third man and it is four more

12.2 - Neesham to Burns, FOUR, repeat of the previous ball. Nothing much different to the ball or shot, the only thing that changed was the ball travelling to the fence much quicker. Neesham is not going to trouble Burns with short of length deliveries at 128kph

12.1 - Neesham to Burns, FOUR, smashed! Can't bowl half-trackers at hip height and expect to get away with it, Burns was into position quickly, he plays the short-arm pull in front of mid-wicket, the ball runs away to the fence in a jiffy

11.5 - Boult to Warner, FOUR, the change of end isn't working for Boult, continues to leak runs. Short and outside off, Warner chops the cut past the diving gully fielder, the ball had travelled past Williamson before he could react

9.3 - Doug Bracewell to Burns, FOUR, there comes the boundary ball for the over. Burns says thank you very much and puts it away. Sliding onto the pads, Burns stays inside the line and tickles it fine, no chance for Neesham in the deep

6.4 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, Burns looks good when playing the pull/hook. It was a poor delivery from Boult, the field is set on the off-side and he drops it short, Burns rocks back and pulls it in the air over square leg, couple of bounces and into the fence

4.1 - Boult to Warner, FOUR, four for Warner but not the most convincing of shots. The short delivery that reared up on him, Warner got into a tangle as he whipped it behind square on the leg-side, his head fell back and he looked in discomfort while playing the shot

0.4 - Boult to Warner, FOUR, does this man not even need a sighter? Slightly short outside off and he pounces, that wristy cut off the back foot, murders it through the cover region

0.2 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, boy, hasn't this lad grown in confidence after his first innings! Slightly short on the body, Burns transfers his weight back after a stride forward and pulverizes the pull behind square. Deliberately lifted it in the air and over the infield

38.2 - Boult to Burns, SIX, gosh! That is some hit from Burns. It was a length delivery just outside off, Burns clears his front leg and hammers it across the line, even better connection this time and it clears long-on comfortably

37.1 - Craig to Warner, SIX, mighty blow! Warner is turning it on at the Gabba. Flighted on the stumps, he goes down on one knee and slog sweeps it over deep mid-wicket. He got plenty of height and the required distance

35.0 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, SIX, what a shot! That looked like a mishit but it has cleared the rope. Good length ball on off, Warner swings through the line towards long-off, Baz circles around it, but it is just of his reach

29.5 - Craig to Burns, SIX, here it is! Well played Joe Burns. A perfect case of opportunity meeting talent. Go son, show your mettle at the top of the order and geez, hasn't he done just that! The arms go up, to soak in the moment. Warner holds him in a warm embrace, enjoying the success of the youngster. Always special to get your maiden Test ton. More so, in front of his home crowd at the Gabba. And he reaches it in style. Similar to the earlier six in the over, twinkle feet to meet the pitch and a clean swipe to deposit the ball into the long-off stands

29.3 - Craig to Burns, SIX, down the track and bang! Makes sure to get close to the pitch and leave enough room to allow a clean swing of his arms. Whacked over long-off

20.3 - Neesham to Burns, SIX, now he plonks his front foot and launches it into orbit straight back down the ground. This innings is in overdrive. In the slot right up, swiped hard and all the way

41.5 - Craig to Mitchell Marsh, out Caught by Brendon McCullum!! Another one for Craig. He has three now. It was a very soft dismissal. Tosses it up generously around off, Marsh leans forward to work it to the on-side, he is deceived in flight, checks his shot and chips it to Baz at short mid-wicket. The New Zealand skipper takes the simplest of catches. Mitchell Marsh c Brendon McCullum b Craig 2(6)

40.2 - Boult to Smith, out Caught by Williamson!! Superb catch by Williamson. Smith charges down the wicket whilst making room, he converts it into a full length delivery, slices it off the face of the bat to backward point, since it was very full, he thought it was a bump ball, but it wasn't and Williamson took a low catch diving to his right. Smith first took Williamson's word and began to walk, but waited for the umpires to make the decision. Replays suggested that Williamson had some part of his fingers under the ball. Smith c Williamson b Boult 1(2)

39.2 - Craig to Burns, out Caught by Ross Taylor!! Another exceptional innings comes to an end. The hometown boy has provided plenty of entertainment to the crowd. He goes in pursuit of quick runs. Craig picks up his second, but it has come at a price. Flighted on off, Burns steps out of the crease and mistimes the loft to long-on, Taylor runs forward and takes it with ease. Burns c Ross Taylor b Craig 129(123) [4s-13 6s-4]

37.4 - Craig to Warner, out Caught by Boult!! Warner goes. He gets a standing ovation from the Gabba crowd. What a knock it has been. Tossed up on middle and leg, Warner kneels down and goes for the switch-hit, doesn't quite get it off the middle of the bat, skies it towards deep extra cover, Boult runs to his right and pouches it comfortably. Warner waves his bat to all parts of the ground as he makes his way back to the pavilion. Warner c Boult b Craig 116(113) [4s-8 6s-2]

36.5 - Doug Bracewell to Warner, 3 runs, there it is! Warner brings up his 14th Test ton. This is also the second time he has notched up two hundreds in a single Test. The customary jump after reaching the ton follows. Burns comes across and embraces his partner. It has been another top innings from Australia's vice-captain. Coming to the ball, on a length just outside off, Warner drives it on the up through extra cover, hares across for the third

34.2 - Doug Bracewell to Burns, 1 run, too full and on off, Burns squeezes the drive to long-on and brings up the 200-run stand

26.3 - Doug Bracewell to Burns, 1 run, the landmarks keep getting knocked over. 150 of the partnership now. Feels like only 10 minutes have passed since the century stand was brought up. Rapidly advancing are the hosts. Again testing the pitch on a back of a length, Burns dabs it down to third man

17.0 - Neesham to Burns, 1 run, fifty in both innings for Burns. Would have been under a lot of pressure to deliver ahead of the Test, vindicates the selectors' faith to put him at the top of the order. A nice little nudge down to third man with an open face helps him get there

15.4 - Craig to Warner, 1 run, well tossed up delivery turning away slightly from a length on off, Warner eases into the push down to long-off

15.1 - Craig to Warner, 2 runs, ugh, Craig comes in and bowls a half-tracker. Come on Kiwis, you are better than this. Neverthelss, brings up fifty for Warner. Waits on the back foot and cuts late to send it behind backward point, didn't emphasise on power though and is tracked down

87.0 - Hazlewood to Boult, FOUR, the boundaries continue to flow. Fuller and in the zone for Boult, who plays a nice looking loft over the mid-off fielder, got it off the middle and collected four more

86.3 - Hazlewood to Boult, FOUR, repeat of the previous delivery, but this time Boult got some wood on that, the ball misses the leg-pole and runs away to the fine leg fence

86.0 - Starc to Boult, FOUR, geez! That is a terrific hit. It was pitched up and in the swinging arc, Boult makes room and smashes it over mid-off, couple of bounces and into the fence. That made a good sound as ball made contact with the bat

84.5 - Hazlewood to Craig, byes, FOUR, what happened there? Short and outside off, Craig flashes a cut, is beaten by the extra bounce and so to is Nevill, he can't reach it even with a leap

84.3 - Hazlewood to Craig, FOUR, hammered! Banged in short and Craig was into position quickly, he rocks back and nails the pull in front of square on the leg-side, no need to run for those as it was heading in only one direction

83.3 - Starc to Craig, FOUR, needless from Starc. That might be out of frustration. Craig pushes the full delivery back to Starc, who fires a wild throw at the striker's end, nearly takes out the batsman, Nevill had no chance behind the stumps

83.2 - Starc to Craig, FOUR, edged and four! On a length close to off, Craig stays back to defend, the ball straightens and takes the outside edge, goes between third slip and gully, Craig is adding some runs to his Test tally

83.1 - Starc to Craig, FOUR, Craig is not going to die prodding around, length delivery on off, clears his front leg and hammers it straight back over the bowler's head. Made a good connection and picked up four

80.1 - Hazlewood to Southee, FOUR, pitched up full with the new ball, Southee aims a waft down the ground, the ball holds its line slightly finding a thick outside edge and flies away wide of a diving gully. Southee is going to swing now

74.3 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, "catch" shouted some of the Aussie fielders. But it is nowhere close to the fielder. Short delivery that tucks McCullum for room, he top edges the pull and it goes fine, one bounce and into the fence

71.1 - Lyon to Watling, FOUR, drops it short with ample width on offer, Watling jumps back and cuts it square of the wicket. The ball labours into the ad cushions

70.1 - Johnson to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, short, wide and crashed in front of square. Please don't bowl short to him. His hands just take over and come ever so hard on the ball

70.0 - Lyon to Watling, FOUR, Watling displays an even better sweep. Well tossed up on the stumps, he sinks low and sends it fine, beats short fine leg and skims away

69.3 - Lyon to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, now this is shorter and wider, McCullum makes added room with his footwork and crunches the cut square of the wicket

60.2 - Starc to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, New Zealand battling for a draw, right? Unbelievable chutzpah from the Kiwi skipper! Good length ball leaving him outside off, what hands from Baz! They come down so hard on the ball, cracks it through the covers

60.1 - Starc to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, full and bang down the ground. It was overpitched and McCullum needs no second invitation. Wasn't actually a drive, more of a clobber straight back past the non-striker

59.5 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, oh what a shot! The sound it made off the willow, phew! Another poor delivery though, drops it short and wide of off, McCullum flashes hard and sends it whistling in front of square

56.0 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, short and wide, McCullum throws his bat at it, the thickish outside edge flies over the slip cordon to the third man fence. Nothing held back

55.0 - Starc to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, full and driven down the ground. That's the way he bats. No point changing his game. Leans nicely into it and caresses the ball straight of mid-off

54.2 - Starc to Ross Taylor, FOUR, "catch it", no. Right in the gap. A loose push away from the body produces a thickish outside edge. Flies away wide of gully and into the fence. Two balls and Starc has forced two loose strokes

53.2 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, oh look at that! Second ball of the day and he has muscled it to the ropes. Was there to be put away - short and wide, McCullum slaps it through point

51.3 - Lyon to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, drops it short and outside off, McCullum is quick to rock back and cut it fiercely in front of square on the off-side, no need to run for those as it travelled quickly to the fence

44.4 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, Kane Williamson continues to grow in stature. The Gabba, check. After a ton in the previous innings, follows it up with an effortless half-century. Back of a length delivery whipped wide of mid-on

43.4 - Lyon to Ross Taylor, FOUR, Taylor seems to have made up his mind. Won't die wondering. Floated up well outside off, he stretches his front foot across, bends on one knee and sweeps hard through square leg

43.0 - Johnson to Ross Taylor, FOUR, short of length on the body, Taylor isn't quite in control of the pull, might have got it high on the bat but enough meat on it to clear mid-wicket. Went in front of square too

36.0 - Lyon to Williamson, FOUR, he's played quite a few sweep shots to the offie. Not wanting to let him settle into a groove perhaps. Premeditates it on this occasion, gets a looped up delivery outside off, moves across and paddles it fine. The man at short fine leg gives chase all the way but the ball just about sneaks through

34.0 - Lyon to Williamson, FOUR, well flighted off-break which pitches in line of off, was there on a sweeping length, Williamson sinks low and connects well to send the ball whistling behind square

28.4 - Johnson to Williamson, FOUR, width on offer on that delivery, Williamson waits for the ball and smears the cut through the backward point region for another boundary

25.2 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, Hazlewood continues to test every nook and cranny of the batsman with a pitched up delivery that shapes away a touch from Williamson. However, Williamson is equal to the challenge as he presents the full face of the blade and drives it down the ground for a boundary. A shot played with poise and balance

15.3 - Hazlewood to Latham, FOUR, too full and straight, Latham dispatches it with a lovely-looking on-drive wide of mid-on, no need to run for those

13.1 - Hazlewood to Latham, FOUR, well played Tom Latham! Perfectly executed pull shot from the Kiwi opener, short and down leg, Latham swivels and pulls behind square on the leg-side

7.4 - Hazlewood to Latham, FOUR, Hazlewood sprays this further wide (down leg), Latham makes connection with the flick and once he did that it's always going to be a boundary

84.2 - Hazlewood to Craig, SIX, what a shot! Craig providing some late entertainment. Length delivery around off, Craig gets his front leg out of the way and tonks it over mid-off, got it off the meaty part as the ball sailed over the ropes

70.2 - Johnson to Brendon McCullum, SIX, short again, this time on the body and look at this go. Weee! McCullum rocks back and pulls fiercely, the man at deep square backtracks but the ball keeps sailing over him. Clears the ropes and the fielder signals six

65.1 - Lyon to Brendon McCullum, SIX, ventures down the track making sure to get wide of the pitch of this flighted delivery, allows a full swing of his arms and whacks it back over the bowler's head. That brings up his fifty, his 30th in Tests

19.2 - Mitchell Marsh to Latham, SIX, with a dash of adventurousness, Latham rocks onto the back foot and pulls it over the fine leg fence for a six. Johnson though, thought he had a chance to pouch the catch at fine leg, but Latham got a good piece of wood on it

88.3 - Starc to Boult, out Caught by Nevill!! That's it! All over. Australia have wrapped up the first Test. Some relieved faces in the Aussie camp as the last wicket stand was starting to frustrate them. Fullish and close to off, Boult drives and the outside edge is found, Nevill does the rest behind the stumps. Boult c Nevill b Starc 15(26) [4s-3]

80.2 - Hazlewood to Southee, out Caught by Nevill!! Full delivery wide of off, Southee attempts a similar slog down the ground, the ball was a bit too wide though out of his swinging arc, only manages an edge through to the keeper. Just one away now are the hosts. Southee c Nevill b Hazlewood 5(8) [4s-1]

78.4 - Mitchell Marsh to Doug Bracewell, out Lbw!! Marsh is on a hat-trick. Australia inch closer to victory. That was dead straight for umpire Nigel Llong. Can't get easier than that. Full and tailing into the batsman, Bracewell is rooted to the crease, fails to get any bat on the push, is struck low and in front of off. The ball would have crashed into middle of middle-stump. Doug Bracewell lbw b Mitchell Marsh 0(1)

78.3 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, out Caught by Smith!! McCullum is fuming as he walks back to the pavilion. Umpire Nigel Llong signals that he has been given out caught. New Zealand don't have any reviews as well to challenge the decision. Australia have got a lucky wicket there. Back of a length delivery nips back in, McCullum hops back to defend, misses and the ball goes off the pad to second slip, Smith dives forward at second slip to pouch that. The two noises were the ball hitting the front pad and back pad. Brendon McCullum c Smith b Mitchell Marsh 80(80) [4s-10 6s-2]

77.3 - Lyon to Watling, out Lbw!! That is a top decision from the umpire. Lyon has provided the vital breakthrough as we all know how resistive Watling can be. It also exposes the lower-order. Shortens the length and turns back sharply, Watling goes right back and misses the nudge, is struck just above the knee-roll, the ball was hitting the leg-stump. Watling lbw b Lyon 14(31) [4s-2]

68.4 - Johnson to Neesham, out Caught by Burns!! Now that's definitely come off the bat. An easy take for Burns at short leg. The short stuff again working wonders. Was a swift delivery banged in halfway, gets too big on Neesham who was jumping in the crease, thrusts his head way and takes his bottom hand off the handle, the ball jars the intersection of the bat and the handle and pops up to the fielder. Neesham c Burns b Johnson 3(33)

57.5 - Hazlewood to Ross Taylor, out Caught by Smith!! There's the early breakthrough! The surprise short ball from Hazlewood. The batsmen almost expect him to be probing around the off-stump channel and so the short delivery has an element of surprise to it. Short of length on the body, Taylor is early into the pull, was through the shot before the ball came, it hits him on the top part of the glove - near the wrist and lobs up to second slip. Ross Taylor c Smith b Hazlewood 26(47) [4s-3]

51.1 - Lyon to Williamson, out Lbw!! Big, big wicket for Australia. It was a 50-50 call and it has gone in their favour. Taylor straightaway asked Williamson to review it as it seemed to be going over the stumps, but that was not the case. Flighted and fraction short, Williamson goes down on one knee and misses the pull, is struck high on the back leg. Umpire Illingworth raised his finger to the Aussies delight. That could have gone either way. Williamson lbw b Lyon 59(74) [4s-5]

41.3 - Lyon to Guptill, out Caught by Smith!! At last the stiff resistance comes to an end. Lyon is the man. Pushed through quicker outside off, the length is fullish, rather than coming forward Guptill plays back to it anticipating turn, there isn't that much. The ball skids on, takes the outside edge and settles into the pockets of Smith at first slip. Guptill c Smith b Lyon 23(133)

22.3 - Starc to Latham, out Lbw!! Well, it is Starc who finally makes the incision for the hosts. Starc is well-known for those toe-crushers. Here too he goes for the inswinging yorker. Latham aims to flick it around the corner, but is beaten by that extra pace. It hits him on the boot and is adjudged LBW. There was a chance that it was perhaps angling down leg. However, on replays one can say it was likely going to clip the leg-stump. The Hawk-Eye also confirms that it was clipping leg-stump. Latham thought of taking the review, but decided against it. Latham lbw b Starc 29(71) [4s-3 6s-1]

18.1 - Johnson to Guptill, 3 runs, Oh! Boy! Lyon has dropped Guptill there. Lyon didn't seem to pick it up quickly. Guptill camped on the back foot and punched it towards Lyon, who jumped in the air and it went through his hands. Guptill collects three runs to deep backward point

35.4 - Lyon to Guptill, no run, Guptill is caught on the crease to one which rips back sharply, pushed through a touch quicker on a length explaining the reluctance to press forward, the exaggerated turn beats defensive bat and strikes him in line with middle. Too much turn though, pretty evident in real time itself
