Dale Steyn Signed by Glamorgan Cricket Club

Glamorgan have signed South African fast bowler Dale Steyn for a seven-matches in the NatWest T20 Blast.

The 32 year old fast-bowler will arrive in Cardiff once his Indian Premier League commitments with Gujarat Lions are completed and he is scheduled to feature in home games of Glamorgan against Essex Eagles, Hampshire, Kent Spitfires and Surrey.

If Gujarat Lions make it to the final of the IPL, which is on Sunday, 29 May then Steyn will miss the match against Surrey and face a race against time to take his place in the match against Essex on Wednesday, 1 June. Speaking about this selection, Hugh Morris, Glamorgan Chief Executive said-

We’ve had to remain patient in our search for overseas talent this season, but we’re delighted to have got this deal over the line. Dale's standing in international cricket proves his talent and consistency and we look forward to welcoming him to our Club.

Steyn’s international record includes 406 wickets in 82 Test appearances, 112 One-Day Internationals and 42 T20 Internationals. He has been sought-after in the world’s leading T20 competitions from IPL, where he has previously represented Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad to the Caribbean Premier League where he will represent Jamaica Tallawahs.

Steyn will be followed by Shaun Tait who will spearhead the Glamorgan attack for the second half of the NatWest T20 Blast campaign.
