Harry Pilling was a Lancashire batsman throughtout the 1960s and 1970s. His bowling was not up to the mark and he was called to bowl only when there was not much left in the matches.
On one occasion, when the umpired asked him what he was going to bowl, Pilling replied, "Flighted filth, sir."
