Footwear brings downfall

John Benaud, brother of the more famous Richie, lost the captaincy and his place in the team (New South Wales) only because of his insistence upon sticking to a certain brand of footwear.
He was sacked mid-season but rather interestingly, went on to play a few Test matches after this happened.
He never played another match for NSW.
He made his Test debut a month after this incident.
He was only 28 when he last played a meaningful match.
