ODI League and Test Championship plan approved by ICC

In a landmark decision that will affect the way cricket is scheduled for years to come, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved plans of establishing an international Test Championship and an ODI League, with the aim of giving international cricket tours more context. More details will be decided and disclosed in due course.

The current plans call for the Test Championship involve 9 Test nations. Each team will play 6 series, 3 home & 3 away, of at least 2 matches over a 2 year period. The ODI League is scheduled to take place over a 3 year cycle and involve 13 teams. Each team will play 8 series in a cycle.

At the moment, these plans are still tentative. There is a likelihood that the ICC will alter them to some extent based on the views of the member boards.
