JP Duminy released from SA squad

JP Duminy has been released from the South Africa’s Test squad for the remaining two Test matches against England.

Duminy was dropped in the second Test at Trent Bridge because of his poor performance in the first Test at Lord’s. He scored only 17 runs and also failed to take a single wicket with his bowling over the two innings at Lord’s.

South Africa have chosen Aiden Markram as a backup option instead.

Duminy’s nine-year Test career nearly seems over as he last scored a Test century in January and has managed to score only 121 runs in the eight innings since then.

Duminy’s inconsistency has cost him his place in the squad. Quinton de Kock has replaced him in at no. 4 position and Philander and Morris have performed brilliantly in the lower middle order.

South Africa will now play against England in the third Test match at Kennington, Oval on 27th July.
