Farveez Maharoof and Suraj Randiv recalled to Sri Lanka ODI squad

Farveez Maharoof has been recalled to Sri Lanka’s One-Day International squad after four years for their tour of Ireland and England.

Maharoof, the 31-year-old fast-bowling allrounder, last played for Sri Lanka in March 2012. He has played 104 ODIs.

Players Suraj Randiv, Upul Tharanga, Danushka Gunathilaka and Seekkuge Prasanna will also be joining the Sri Lankan team in England.

Suraj Randiv, the offspinner, last played for Sri Lanka in November 2014, while Tharanga and Prasanna haven’t played an ODI since July last year. Gunathilaka, the opening batsman who featured in Sri Lanka’s tour of New Zealand earlier this year, keeps his place.

Sri Lanka will be without the services of Tillakaratne Dilshan, Rangana Herath, Dhammika Prasad and Dushmantha Chameera for the ODI series. Dilshan pulled out due to personal reasons just a few days ago and Herath has retired from limited-overs cricket. Prasad and Chameera are both out due to injuries.

Sri Lanka are scheduled to play two ODIs against Ireland in Dublin on June 16 and June 18 before their five-match ODI series against England beginning on June 21 in Birmingham.
