The Black Caps have replaced injured fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan with Doug Bracewell for the remainder of the one-day international series against Pakistan.

McClenaghan was ruled out after suffering a fractured eye socket when struck by an Anwar Ali bouncer in the first ODI in Wellington on Monday, which New Zealand won by 70 runs. He is due to undergo minor cometic surgery on Friday.

Bracewell will join the squad ahead of the second match in Napier on Thursday with the series concluding in Auckland on Sunday. The injury is not expected to sideline McClenaghan for long, but a return date is unconfirmed ahead of the Chappell-Hadlee series opener in Auckland next Wednesday.

Our main focus is making sure Mitch is okay and we'll continue to monitor him over the coming days.

Black Caps coach Mike Hesson said.

"Doug has been in superb form this summer and we're confident he can come in and do a good job for us. He's an integral member of our wider bowling group."Bracewell took part in the recent Sri Lanka series but was left out of the initial ODI squad to face Pakistan.

The 25-year-old has played five Ford Trophy matches for Central Districts this season with his total of three wickets all coming in his last outing against Canterbury. But he's been in much better touch with the bat, averaging 39.75 including a career-best 80 against Northern Districts and a 23-ball 50 against Auckland.
