After 11 years in the Indian Premier League (IPL) the team from New Delhi, the capital of India, have been renamed as the Delhi Capitals. 

The erstwhile Daredevils, part of IPL since its founding, placed 3rd in 2009 and 2012, and 4th in 2008, but have otherwise ended up 5th or lower on the table in the remaining seasons, coming last in 4 editions. 

Their most recent wooden spoon was in 2018, and the rebranding and renaming seems to be part of a major overhaul in their pursuit of glory in IPL 2019. A significant number of players were released and the management are looking to reinvest heavily in a new look side that includes Shikhar Dhawan and Indian young guns Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant.
