England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the second Investec Test against Sri Lanka.
Stokes will miss the second Test starting friday having damaged his knee during the first Test victory at Headingley.
Scans on the left knee he damaged during the innings victory at Leeds have revealed significant damage, and Stokes may also have to sit out the remainder of the Investec Test series as well as the Royal London one-day internationals too.
The 24-year-old has been replaced in a 12-man squad for the Durham Test by fellow all-rounder Chris Woakes.
Depending on the outcome of a consultation with a specialist on Tuesday, it is understood he may be out for four to six weeks.
He could may well have to undergo a surgery if required after consultations with the experts.
An England and Wales Cricket Board statement read -
“

”
Woakes is back in the reckoning for his seventh cap - his last came at Centurion in January, when England lost the match but won the series against South Africa.
