Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay will not be a part of the Tamil Nadu Ranji side that faces Karnataka in the quarterfinal from December 23 in Visakhapatnam.

Ashwin is reported to be suffering from sports hernia.

Vijay is yet to recover from a shoulder injury that he suffered during the final Test against England.

Tamil Nadu's coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar said,

The impact will definitely be there given that they were with the Indian team till now and were in good form. It would have been a great thing if both of them would've played, it adds to our strength. But since they haven't played the whole season it's a case of we not knowing what we are missing. So that's alright. We will continue with the way we were preparing.

”

Karnataka has named a full-strength squad for the match, with the likes of Karun Nair, KL Rahul and Manish Pandey set to play.
