England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the ongoing Natwest T20 Blast after fracturing his thumb.
Buttler was struck by the bat of Worcestershire player Ben Cox while keeping wickets during Lancashire's T20 Blast match on Friday. However, an operation will not be required.
Despite the agonizing pain, Buttler went on to score a match-winning 57 from just 22 balls.
His team Lancashire stated,
“
Jos Buttler received a blow to his left thumb during Friday night's T20. X-rays later revealed he sustained a small stable fracture which will be managed conservatively.
”
The biggest concern for England players and fans was whether Buttler will be fit in time for the ODI series against Pakistan. He was not selected in the Test squad but will be hoping to recover in time for the ODI series in August.
