Dwayne Bravo ruled out of BBL|06

The worst news was confirmed for the Melbourne Renegades and their star import Dwayne Bravo with the West Indian needing surgery after badly injuring his hamstring during Renegades versus Scorchers match on 29th Dec.

The Renegades will now turn their attention to finding a replacement but it's unclear how Bravo's injury will impact on selection for the New Year's Day derby against Melbourne Stars at the MCG.

Bravo was injured while trying to save a boundary against the Scorchers and got his left foot caught in the Etihad Stadium turf.

He tumbled to the ground and was in significant discomfort until he was taken from the arena on a stretcher.

Bravo said,

Unfortunately my Big Bash season is over which is very disappointing. I'll now have surgery and the rehabilitation to get me fit and playing at my best again. I want to thank all the Renegades fans for their support for me and I hope to see them again next season.

It's the second season in a row that the Renegades have lost a star import early in their Big Bash League campaign after Chris Gayle was dumped by the club after his controversial interview with a female television reporter last season.

RENEGADES vs SCORCHERS(29th Dec) Summary:

After the Renegades posted a modest 8-148, Shaun Marsh and Michael Klinger put on 36 before West Indies import Sunil Narine removed Marsh.

The Scorchers made hard work of a target that appeared about 20 runs short.

They required 72 runs with eight overs remaining.

The Renegades' top four - Aaron Finch (24 off 14), Marcus Harris (25 off 24), Cameron White (37 off 29) and Callum Ferguson (28 off 21) - all holed out.
