AB de Villiers opts out of England and Bangladesh Test series

South Africa batsman AB de Villiers has ruled himself out of the England Test series in July-August as well as the Bangladesh Test series.

This comes just a day after he announced that he has opted out of the New Zealand Test series.

He also declared that he will not be playing any T20 leagues except the IPL.

When quizzed about his decision, he said,

I'm just not ready yet. I'm aware of my elbow. The surgeon said it will be normal. I'm feeling really confident.

De Villiers is targeting a return to the format only in the 2017-18 home summer, when India and Australia tour South Africa.

AB further said,

The bigger and better reason is my priorities have changed. Playing three formats it felt like the world is on my shoulder. The IPL has become part of the ICC set-up, you won't see me at any other leagues. I'll only be playing IPL and for South Africa.

Speculations were rife that AB is planning to retire from Test cricket but he refuted all rumours.

South Africa, meanwhile will play Sri Lanka on the 20th of January, 2017 in the 1st T20 of the series, with AB expected to play.
