Former Sri Lankan batsman Thilan Samaraweera has been signed by Bangladesh as their batting consultant for their home series against England.

Samaraweera will only be available for this series but Bangladesh could extend his contract.

BCB President Nazmul Hassan stated,

Thilan Samaraweera, the batting specialist, has been hired for the England series as a consultant. We will see if we want to extend him.

”

This will be Samaraweera’s second stint as a batting consultant for an international team after being hired by Australia a few months ago.

Hassan also added,

“

We are still looking for a spin bowling coach. [We will] get the best among those available. We hope to appoint one before the New Zealand series.

”

England will be touring Bangladesh in October for 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches.
