Swepson, Bird called up to Australia Test Squad

Mitchell Swepson and Jackson Bird have been added to the Australia squad to tour Bangladesh

The squad was announced in June but after the MOU dispute between Cricket Australia and the Australian cricketers cropped up, the tour was in doubt

However, after the dispute was settled, the tour is now back on.

Legspinner Mitchell Swepson has been added to the Test squad as a replacement for Mitchell Starc, while Jackson Bird has been named as replacement of injured James Pattinson.

National selector Trevor Honhs said,

We are comfortable with the fast-bowling stocks we have in the squad so have opted to add an additional spinner given the conditions we are likely to face in Bangladesh.

Starc has failed to recover from a foot injury that has been plaguing him for months now.

Pattinson has been ruled out due to inflammation in his back.

Australia's tour of Bangladesh consists of 2 Test matches.

Australia squad:

Steven Smith (c), David Warner, Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Pat Cummins, Peter Handscomb, Matthew Wade (wk), Josh Hazlewood, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Glenn Maxwell, Matt Renshaw, Mitchell Swepson, Jackson Bird.
