Pat Cummins selected in Australia A squad

Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins is all set to make his return to playing cricket with Australia A in a winter quadrangular series to be played in Queensland.

Cummins last represented his country internationally in September 2015 in an ODI match against England, after which he was diagnosed with a lower lumbar bone stress fracture.

The 22-year-old returned to bowling in February and had been hoping for selection to the senior side's winter tours of the Caribbean and Sri Lanka.

However, Cummins has been selected in a 24-man Australia A squad that includes fellow senior team bowlers and IPL players Kane Richardson, Scott Boland, Moises Henriques, Joel Paris and spinners Ashton Agar and Cameron Boyce.

National Selector Rod Marsh stated,

Pat is tracking along nicely in his recovery from his long term injury and we are hopeful he will be available for the one-day matches in this series. However, we will be guided by medical staff on his return.

Australia A will play South Africa A in two unofficial Tests in Brisbane and Townsville in early August.

Australia A squad: Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Scott Boland, Cameron Boyce, Pat Cummins, Travis Dean, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Sam Heazlett, Moises Henriques, Jake Lehmann, Chris Lynn, Joe Mennie, Kurtis Patterson, Joel Paris, Matt Renshaw, Kane Richardson, Alex Ross, Chadd Sayers, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Swepson, Chris Tremain, Dan Worrall, Sam Whiteman.
