Cricket South Africa ban Four players for Match Fixing

Four South African cricketers, including former Test wicketkeeper Thami Tsolekile, have been banned by Cricket South Africa for breaching the board's Anti-Corruption Code.

Thami Tsolekile, Jean Symes, Ethy Mbhalati and Pumelela Matshikwe have been given bans in relation to match fixing during the 2015 Ram Slam T20 tournament.

All four players have accepted the bans given by CSA. Tsolekile has been given a 12-year ban, Symes a 7-year ban and Mbhalati and Matshikwe have been given 10-year bans each.

CSA chief executive officer Haroon Lorgat stated,

There is no evidence that this is widespread. We are fully confident that it is contained but will continue investigating.

Chairman of CSA's anti-corruption unit Bernard Ngoepe stated,

We take our work seriously. We need something serious to trigger an investigation. We do not engage in witch hunts. Our primary responsibility is to protect the integrity of the sport and no stone will be left unturned.

Tsolekile has played 3 test matches for South Africa back in 2004.
