BCCI aiming for cricket at home twice a year

In discussion with the ICC over the newly proposed Test & ODI schedule that will take effect from 2019 & 2020 respectively, the BCCI is trying to ensure that India will get two set windows of playing cricket at home: October-November and February-March.

Home seasons have long been fixed in other cricketing countries; England's is famously May to September, after which they begin touring. Taking into account the IPL, the BCCI seeks to have the home season split over two sections. This would leave time for the IPL in April-May, as well as give the Indian side time to go on cricketing tours of other countries.

With the home season split, India will avoid large stretches of only playing at home or being on the road for several months on end.
