Australian pacer James Pattinson to miss the remainder of the season due to injury

James Pattinson, the Australian pacer, has suffered a recurrence of shin soreness that kept him away from the game in January.

The 25-year-old, right-arm pacer, has been ordered to rest for the remainder of the season by Cricket Australia.

Pattinson missed Australia's domestic Twenty20 competition, the Big Bash League, in January due the same reason. However, he returned to the international cricket in the second Test against New Zealand in Christchurch and bowled impressively.

The right-arm quick bowler took six wickets in the match at Hagley Oval. He took 4 New Zealand wickets giving away 77 runs in the second innings which helped Australia win the match.

James had a recurrence of his left shin soreness following the second Test in Christchurch and had follow-up scans in Melbourne yesterday.

- David Bleaky, physiotherapist of Cricket Australia.

"These scans have shown some inflammation around the shin consistent with bone stress. James will now require some time off to allow this injury to resolve and will not be available for the remainder of the domestic cricket season," Bleaky added.

James Pattinson was not a part of the Australian squad touring South Africa for the three T20 games.
