Australia announce squad for Tests against South Africa

Australia have announced their 12-man squad for the first 2 Tests against South Africa.

Jackson Bird and Joe Burns lose out on their spots as Joe Mennie beats everyone to be in the playing XI.

On Joe Mennie’s inclusion, Australian selector Rod Marsh said,

Mennie was the best bowler in domestic cricket last summer and he continued his good work during the A series and was rewarded with a trip to South Africa. He's a very good length bowler and that's something that in Test cricket is of paramount importance.

Shaun Marsh and Mitchell Starc make a return to the team after recovering from their injuries. Marsh’s good form before he was struck with an injury meant Joe Burns has to miss out.

Peter Siddle makes a comeback into the team after suffering an injury in February 2016.

Australia Test squad:

David Warner, Shaun Marsh, Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith (c), Adam Voges, Mitchell Marsh, Peter Nevill (wk), Mitchell Starc, Peter Siddle, Joe Mennie, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon
