Tillakaratne Dilshan to retire from ODIs and T20s

Tillakaratne Dilshan has announced that he will be retiring from ODIs and T20s after the ongoing Australia tour of Sri Lanka.

He will play his last ODI on Sunday (the 3rd ODI of the series) and his last T20 on September 9.

He recently opted out of the England series due to personal reasons and his return hasn’t been quite great, recording scores of 22 and 20 in the first 2 ODIs.

He was apparently reluctant to retire but captain Angelo Mathews and the selectors expressed their desire to build a new team for the 2019 World Cup and giving new players a chance.

He has been an integral part of the Sri Lankan team for years and is one of the best fielders in cricket.

Along with his batting power, he was also a handy bowler. He has more than 10,000 ODI runs and 106 ODI wickets.
