Sri Lanka rope in South African wicketkeeper Nic Pothas as fielding coach

Former South African wicketkeeper-batsman Nic Pothas has been appointed as the fielding coach of the Sri Lankan national team.

Pothas was the Director of Cricket at Guernsey and was Leicestershire county's academy director.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Thilanga Sumathipala said his side's fielding had let them down in their last few tours and, therefore, they had decided to appoint Pothas to give them the necessary boost.

He stated,

Our last few outings are showing a marked improvement in the batting and bowling, however our fielding has been letting us down. Pothas joining the support team already in place will give the necessary boost to this important area.

Pothas has played just three ODI for South Africa but made 218 first-class appearances for Hampshire, scoring over 11,000 runs, taking 614 catches and effecting 45 stumpings.
