Sean Terry, Hampshire's opening batsman, and Mark Adair, Warwickshire's seam-bowling all-rounder, have been named in the Ireland squad to take on Afghanistan in a five-match One-Day International series, starting July 10.

Adair has only played a solitary first-class match for Warwickshire. On the other hand, Terry has represented Hampshire in 11 county games.

Earlier this month, Terry also notched up an unbeaten double century against Scotland 'A' in Alloway.

Also, Ireland has announced a 14 member squad instead of the 13 member squad announced for the matches against Sri Lanka.

Confirming the same, John Bracewell, Ireland's coach, said -

Naming 14 players - as opposed to 13 for the Sri Lanka series - gives us an opportunity to bring in batting cover and we believe that Sean Terry covers all the positions required.

”

Boyd Rankin, the spearhead of Ireland's pace attack, hasn't been included. Ireland have also left out veteran left-arm spinner George Dockrell. Commenting on Rankin's absence, Bracewell noted that the series clashed with his county commitments for Warwickshire.
