Sri Lanka Cricket appoints Jerome Jayaratne as interim coach

Sept 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka's cricket governing body, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Monday announced that SLC Head of Coaching Jerome Jayaratne, has been appointed as the Interim Head Coach of the Sri Lankan National Team. Attapattu resigned from the post last week.

Jayaratne has been appointed with immediate effect for the upcoming West Indies Series in October / November 2015.

Jayaratne, who has coaching certificates from Australia and England, was appointed head of coaching in 2008.

He previously held the posts of manager-coaching as well as coach of the SLC academy squad, and during his stint at the academy, he was credited with discovering five cricketers who went on to play for Sri Lanka: Upul Tharanga, Chamara Kapugedera, Dilruwan Perera, Chanaka Welegedara and Ajantha Mendis.
