Jacques Kallis has been named the Chief Mentor of Trinbago Knight Riders for the 2016 Caribbean Premier League, the franchise owned by Shah Rukh Khan announcing the tie-up on Friday (May 13).

Kallis, one of the greatest players of the modern era, was a vital member in the side’s march to the title last year.

The head coach of the team , Simon Helmotexpressed his delight at the appointment.

Kallis has been closely associated with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League since 2011.

He was a member of the sides that won in 2012 and 2014, after which he became a part of the back-room staff as a batting consultant and mentor in 2015.

The close relationship with Kolkata made him readily agree to become their coach in the 2016 IPL season.

His new assignment as the mentor will begin on June 30.
