Cricket South Africa will not be allowed to host or bid for any major international tournaments after failing to meet transformation guidelines. This is with regard to their failure to create opportunities for black people. 

South Africa's sports minister, Fikile Mbalula, imposed this ban on the country after receiving the annual transformation report from the Eminent Person’s Group (EPG).

The same punishment was handed out to the rugby, athletics and netball federations, and the decision will be reviewed next year.

This ban basically means that Cricket South Africa cannot lobby or express interest in any other tournaments until Mbalula has cleared them.

Fikile Mbalula, Sports Minister, South Africa stated,

I have therefore resolved to revoke the privilege of Athletics South Africa (ASA), Cricket South Africa (CSA), Netball South Africa (NSA) and South African rugby (SARU) to host and bid for major and mega international tournaments.

”

South Africa have hosted major ICC tournaments before, notably the inaugural T20 World Cup. Although it is not scheduled to host any major tournament for the senior men’s team till 2023, the nation was supposed to hold the U-19 World Cup in 2020.
