John Hastings ruled out of IPL

John Hastings, Kolkata Knight Riders' all-rounder, has been ruled out of the remainder of Indian Premier League 2016, after sustaining an ankle injury, Simon Katich, team's assistant coach, confirmed on Monday (April 18)

Hastings sustained an injury to his ankle during warm-up ahead of the game against Mumbai Indians on April 13. The 30-year-old all-rounder bowled four overs for 31 runs but did not get a chance to bat.

He bowled through a fair bit of pain during the game and had scans after that; he has flown back to Australia.

Katich said on the eve of KKR's match against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. It's a shame to see his campaign end prematurely. He had fitted in really well into the group and had performed well in a couple of games

Katich also confirmed that the team has looked into a replacement for Hastings but did not disclose the player's name.

We have sent off the paperwork. Nothing has been confirmed regarding the player concerned. Hopefully that'll happen in the next few days.
