ICC clears Sunil Narine's bowling action

The ICC has cleared West Indies spinner Sunil Narine's action just before the commencement of the ninth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). His deliveries have been found legal with a remodelled action, after being reported for having an illegal delivery action.

His IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were also unsure of his availability for the tournament as there had been no confirmation from the ICC. Narine has been a star player for KKR and helped the team win the IPL title twice in 2012 and 2014.

Narine was reported for suspect action during an ODI match against Sri Lanka in November. The ICC after conducting retests on March 28 in Chennai, has cleared him to play in international and domestic competitions.

Initially, Narine was named in West Indies' World T20 squad, but the spinner himself pulled out citing "insufficient progress in the rehabilitative work on his bowling action".

However, he is doubtful for KKR's first game against Delhi Daredevils on April 10, having flown back to the West Indies following the demise of his father. The KKR team management is also not putting pressure on him to join back the squad soon.
