Taylor: '760 runs being scored, it must have been a pretty exciting game. Obviously, Duckworth-Lewis played a part and it's good to win. The par score was 360-370 and it was good to see everyone play well. I got permission from the mentor to play those slog sweeps, it was good to get a couple right off the middle. It was a great game and hopefully, we will have another great game at the Rose Bowl. It was nice to score those runs.'

McCullum: 'It was terrifying at times. England are playing a completely different brand of cricket to what they have played in recent times. You think 400 should be plenty, but it wasn't. The wicket was excellent. Credit to England, the way they are playing their cricket, it's great to see. Credit to our boys as well, they held their nerves under pressure towards the end. I thought 400 was a good start, but there is no guarantee in this game. The outfield was fast and they had some great strikers. The bowlers had a tough day out and at the same time, they stood up to the challenge. Tremendous entertainment and it is good that we ended up as winners. Ross (Taylor) was brilliant, another outstanding innings by him. We knew we needed a big score from our batters, he stepped up today. I said it at the end of the last game that we are going to see some cliffhangers and we might see a few one-sided games as well in this series. It's great to level the series 1-1 and turn our attention to the next game.'

Morgan: 'It was epic. These are the games of cricket we want to play. The style of cricket we played today was exceptional. Credit to New Zealand as well the way they structured their innings. Till the 35th over, the rate didn't really move for us, we kept going at it. We were batting deep, it is our strength as a side. Again, Rashid and Plunkett were outstanding. When you're chasing in a game like this, the scoreboard is irrelevant. It is not a bad day for us, especially when we want to play our cricket this way. I was striking the ball well today, it is always good to get some runs under your belt. We know we have to play at our best to beat a side like New Zealand. Personally, Duckworth-Lewis could have changed with time. It is the only thing that hasn't evolved in the game in the last 15 years or so. When the guys are willing to take 398 on, it is very exciting for us as a team.'

Earlier in the day, New Zealand posted a mammoth 398 on the board after Brendon McCullum won the toss and decided to bat. A blitz from McCullum, a fifty from Guptill, an 88-ball 93 from Williamson and most importantly Taylor's 13th ODI century saw New Zealand post a mammoth 398 on the board. They were also helped by some late cameos from Elliott, Ronchi and Santner.

At that stage, England needed 54 runs from 37 balls and after the rain break, they were given a target of 379 in 46 overs, needing 34 runs from 13 balls. In the end, it turned out to be a little too much for the English lower-order as they fell short by 13 runs. The key moment after the rain break was the brilliant bit of fielding by Southee and Boult, as both of them combined to pull off a spectacular catch to send Rashid back.

Morgan, who was batting beautifully, didn't last long after that. In the first over of the batting powerplay, he tried to hit one out of the park but could only find Elliott in the deep, getting out for a 47-ball 88. Billings too failed to put up any kind of show and got out for 12. Rashid and Plunkett though kept England in the game, smacking the Kiwi bowlers all around the ground, time and again. When the rain stopped play, England were 345/7 after 43.5 overs, 9 runs behind the Duckworth-Lewis par score.

Both of them put on 63 for the 4th wicket before Stokes went edging one off McClenaghan. Stokes' wicket didn't deter Morgan from playing aggressively, with Buttler playing the holding role at the other end. Both of them played some great shots, putting the pressure back on the Black Caps. Taylor dropping Buttler didn't help New Zealand's cause as well. At one stage, England were 259/4 and were threatening to run away with the game, but Boult had other plans in his mind. He came on and picked the wicket of Buttler, giving the Kiwis some sort of hope at that point.

England came out all guns blazing as both Jason Roy and Alex Hales played their shots right from the beginning. New Zealand though should have had Roy early, but Nathan McCullum dropped him on 12 off Southee. The first wicket partnership ended on 85 when Roy hit a reverse sweep straight to Taylor off Nathan McCullum. Hales soon got to his fifty, but both Root and him got out in a space of 3 balls, leaving England at 100/3. Stokes and Morgan though came out attacking, hitting the Kiwi bowlers all over the park.
