Champions Trophy a success…
West
Indies lost the final against Australia,
again. “Stage Fright” was the quote from Lara, which is total and utter bull.
They have just completed the DLF series in Malaysia
and were fresh from a home series against India. Hell, they were the previous
winners of the Champions Trophy. Almost all their players are one-day veterans
of more than 50 games. What it comes down to is that they did not have the
nerve or composure to graft out the 50 overs and put on 230 runs to give their
bowlers something to work with. It is something Australia would have done. The
Aussies would have recognized the fact that after losing 3 or 4 quick wickets,
it would have been time to buckle down and keep wickets intact for a last burst
at the end. It is what makes them so much better than every other team in the
world. A last peeve is why, oh why, was Carlton Baugh in this series ahead of
Denesh Ramdin?

Valid Paranoia...
West Indies vs South Africa 2/ 11/ 06
I’ve been
asked why I’m so paranoid when it comes to the West Indies
winning a cricket match, especially one that appears to be game, set &
match.
The
people from the Caribbean have good reason to
be paranoid. We rejoice with every match won, accepting it like rain in a
drought stricken region, truly appreciating in it, but knowing in our deepest
hearts that tomorrow the rain clouds can disappear, leaving once again dry and
parched lands.
