Malinga: 'These conditions are really hard for any bowler. I am happy with the way the boys responded. We batted really well, we got those big shots going. We did give away a lot of runs too, but at the end of the day, we are on the winning side. Siriwardana has got the golden arm, every time he comes on he gets a wicket. Good all-rounder for Sri Lanka. I have been fit and I want to do a lot more for the national side. Hopefully, I can continue with this and be in the side for the World T20.'
Sammy: 'I think we were right there. We could have gotten closer with the batting order we have. Well done to Sri Lanka, they were much better today. We always back ourselves to chase any target but we kept losing wickets. Fletcher played really well, Bravo and Pollard also got a partnership but we lost wickets in clusters. We have guys who play a lot of T20 cricket, we enjoy playing this format and hopefully, we can come back well in Colombo.'
Senanayake: 'I am so happy that I picked most of the wickets. It was so tough, it was raining sixes. I think I did a reasonable job even though it was very difficult. I wanted to vary my pace to trouble the batsman. We had to try different things to keep the scoring rate in check.'

Earlier, the opening pair of Dilshan and Perera larruped the opposition ranks to give a rollicking start for the home team. Pollard prised out both openers and Narine bowled tidily to help West Indies gain a foothold in the match. However, breezy knocks by Shehan Jayasuriya, Chandimal and Mathews lifted Sri Lanka to a mammoth total. In fact, in the final overs, Sammy didn't seem to have any time to pause or reflect in an attempt to stem the run-flow. In the end, the substantial score proved to be too much for the men from the Caribbean to chase down.
Despite Andre Fletcher, Dwayne Bravo and Pollard tonking some searing hits, the visitors tumbled towards a defeat. It was the spin duo of Sachithra Senanayake and Milinda Siriwardana, who quelled West Indies' surge by picking up six wickets between them. It has to be said though, for a brief period when Fletcher was clattering Sri Lankan bowlers to all parts of the stadium, they seemed to be in the game. However, he fell to a slower one from Chameera.
