At 64/4, things weren't looking good for the hosts, but an excellent 55-run stand between Kapugedera and Siriwardana has helped Malinga & Co. post a very good total on the board. Kapugedera batted exceptionally well and hit 4 massive sixes in his 25-ball 48. Earlier, debutant Shehan Jayasuriya too played a handy innings to provide stability during the middle overs. Shoaib Malik was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan with two wickets. The visitors need to bat sensibly to pull this off. Can they end the tour on a high by winning the series? He came to the crease when Pakistan needed 66 from 36 balls and departed when Pakistan only needed 8 runs from 8 balls. Sohail Tanvir then came out to bat and ran himself out while trying to take the second run. With 6 needed from the final over, Irfan took the single off the first ball and Imad Wasim hit a six off the very next ball to give his team a stunning win.
Afridi and Rizwan then stabilized the innings with a 61-run stand, with the former playing the role of the aggressor. The Pakistani skipper smashed 4 sixes during his knock. Both Rizwan and Afridi then got out in quick succession and at that time it looked as if Sri Lanka had the game in their bag.
Pakistan got off to a poor start with youngster Fernando sending both the openers back for single-digit scores. Soon after, two suicidal run-outs in quick succession saw Hafeez and Umar Akmal lose their wickets. Shoaib Malik too didn't hang around long enough as he was stumped off Siriwardana. Half the Pakistani side was back in the hut for a paltry 40 on the board when Afridi walked out to the middle.
