Welcome back for the chase. South Africa form a huddle before walking out to their positions. A roar from the crowd as they see Gayle and Charles coming out. Pace off the ball will be key here. JP Duminy's presence would have been so good for South Africa and he'd have been a handful on this surface. Imran Tahir has to lead from the front. I think David Wiese too will play a big role. However, it's all down to how well they bowl to Gayle at the start. Here we go for the first ball...

Russell: "Starting well in the first six is very important, especially getting a guy like Amla out early. We won't take this target for granted, the wicket is holding up and turning. It would look a lot better if I had gone for something like 18 off the four. But Bravo bowled well. Half the job done. It is a big ground and lots of twos have been run today, we have to use the resources and get the boundaries in between."

Big Curtly is a happy man. He is seen clapping at that effort from his bowlers. One difference between this pitch and the one that India played New Zealand on is that, this one isn't turning and gripping as that one. And New Zealand played the perfect game with the ball. Starting with Nathan McCullum to Dhawan and then KW marshalling his troops expertly to spin India out. South Africa need a similar effort to pull off something special. But according to me, it is advantage West Indies!

A Friday crowd didn't. Nagpur's promoted pitch didn't. West Indian celebrations didn't. What disappointed was South Africa's adaptability. Adjusting to near foreign dynamics, some 800 odd kilometers from Mumbai, was the examination but South Africa shot on its own foot. But for de Kock's 47 and Wiese's 28, South Africa looked on crutches at 47/5 in the 9th over. Still do at 122/8, but a gentle reminder that New Zealand defended 126 vs. India here, in the most handsome of ways. The slide started early - a mid-pitch stutter sent Amla back in the first over and du Plessis's stint lasted only 7 balls and a six. Gayle, with the ball in hand, then stunned. He beat Rossouw and Miller, beat his hamstring blues and sent a packed stadium into frenzy. His wickets sandwiched Bravo's slow ball-ing of de Villiers, and panicked urgency (read: regular wickets) ironically curbed South Africa's SOS slogathon towards the end. Join us back for the chase..

C Morris 16(17) Phangiso 4(5) Dwayne Bravo 4-0-20-2

19.6 - Dwayne Bravo to C Morris, out Phangiso Run Out!! Easy. Morris rushes down and misses with the swipe to leg. A predictable slower ball again, the signal was there for Ramdin to come forward, he collects the ball and underarms direct to catch Phangiso well short. Gould from square leg had his finger up in a flash. Terrific end to the innings. Phangiso run out (Ramdin) 4(5)

Dwayne Bravo to C Morris, THAT'S OUT!! Run Out!!

19.5 - Dwayne Bravo to C Morris, no run, Morris is on his haunches. He has again failed to connect with a mow to leg. The off-speed ball beating his shot. He is disappointed with himself for not connecting there

19.4 - Dwayne Bravo to Phangiso, 1 run, slower one again, on the stumps, Phangiso backs away and lofts to sweeper cover

19.3 - Dwayne Bravo to C Morris, 1 run, Dwayne Bravo got lucky there. Knows it too. A slower full toss outside off, Morris reverse hits and finds Gayle at backward point. If he had hit it wide of him, it was four. Morris knows he has missed out and punches the bat hard with his glove in frustration

19.2 - Dwayne Bravo to C Morris, no run, misses with a slog to leg. Slower one outside off, Morris swings and misses

19.1 - Dwayne Bravo to C Morris, 2 runs, slower delivery outside off, squeezed out wide of sweeper, two was the call and easily done. Dwayne Bravo doesn't collect the throw and there was a chance for another one, but Morris is happy to be on strike

C Morris 13(12) Phangiso 3(4) A Russell 4-0-28-2

18.6 - A Russell to C Morris, 1 run, very full on the stumps, flicked to deep mid-wicket, he will keep strike

18.5 - A Russell to C Morris, no run, slower delivery outside off, sits up to be smashed, Morris though has hit that straight to the fielder at extra cover. Another dot!

18.4 - A Russell to Phangiso, 1 run, smashed straight back at Russell and the ball nutmegs him, Brathwaite goes to his right at mid-off and boots the ball away, it doesn't run away from his grasp, so just a single

18.3 - A Russell to Phangiso, no run, a dot in the 19th over. Precious. Slower one on off, dabbed to Gayle at point, who is in tight

18.2 - A Russell to C Morris, 1 run, full outside off, drilled to long-off, just a single

Faf looks cool in the dugout!

18.1 - A Russell to Phangiso, 1 run, back of a length outside off, dabbed in front of point and an easy single

C Morris 11(9) Phangiso 1(1) Dwayne Bravo 3-0-16-2

17.6 - Dwayne Bravo to C Morris, no run, these slower deliveries from Dwayne Bravo are sticking on the pitch and providing nothing for the batsmen. Morris has to check his dab and finds the bowler

17.5 - Dwayne Bravo to Phangiso, 1 run, the slower delivery turns out to be a low full toss, bunted to long-on

The crowd are in full throttle now

17.4 - Dwayne Bravo to C Morris, 1 run, an off-cutter outside off, Morris drives to long-off

17.3 - Dwayne Bravo to C Morris, no run, confusion between Morris and Phangiso. A slower delivery outside off, dabbed to point, Morris is sent back in time

Aaron Phangiso, right handed bat, comes to the crease

17.2 - Dwayne Bravo to Wiese, out Caught by Sammy!! High ball and caught at cover. Sammy has hands like buckets. He has reverse-cupped that easily. A slower delivery outside off, Wiese lofted that and completely skied it, went a long way up in the air and Sammy at cover judged that to perfection. Wiese c Sammy b Dwayne Bravo 28(26) [4s-2]

Dwayne Bravo to Wiese, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

17.1 - Dwayne Bravo to Wiese, FOUR, that's the latest of late-cuts. Rare length ball that tailed in towards off, Wiese chopped that late and the ball rushes to the third man fence. He was inside the ring and the pace on that took the ball away to the boundary. Sammy has a smile and a word with his bowler on what he should be bowling next

16.5 - Badree to C Morris, 1 run, another googly, Morris plays it late and guides it to the right of point

16.4 - Badree to C Morris, no run, now tossed up outside off, Morris drives and finds cover

16.3 - Badree to C Morris, FOUR, beautiful shot. Morris is a powerful player and he has used his strong wrists on display to power that over mid-wicket. Flat and skidding on off, Morris went back and short-arm jabbed that. Successive boundaries

16.2 - Badree to C Morris, FOUR, Morris got bat on that and Badree has a wry smile on his face. A loud shout for lbw, but Gould spotted the inside edge. It was very full on the stumps and Morris got a bit lucky. The ball runs away to the fence

16.1 - Badree to C Morris, no run, googly on off, Morris gets forward and defends

15.5 - A Russell to C Morris, 1 run, back of a length around the fourth stump line, Morris defends to the right of point and is off the mark with that single

Chris Morris, right handed bat, comes to the crease

15.4 - A Russell to de Kock, out Bowled!! End of de Kock. He got greedy and shuffled far too across in an attempt to play the paddle. A perfect leg stump yorker and de Kock fails to lay bat on it. Russell roars as the ball flicks the leg stump. de Kock b A Russell 47(46) [4s-3 6s-1]

A Russell to de Kock, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

15.3 - A Russell to Wiese, 1 run, Wiese and de Kock punch gloves and pat each other. That is for the 50-run stand. They have brought South Africa back in this. Slower short ball outside off, pulled to deep backward square

Lots of moths flying around. Meanwhile de Kock wants Wiese to run hard

15.2 - A Russell to de Kock, 1 run, low full toss on the stumps, de Kock backs away and flicks, now finds deep mid-wicket

15.1 - A Russell to de Kock, FOUR, de Kock is anchoring the innings and now he is pulling off his shots. This wasn't a bad ball at all, but de Kock took it from outside off and short-arm jabbed the pull to the vacant deep mid-wicket fence. Strong wrists on display

14.5 - Benn to Wiese, 1 run, makes room and then opts to play off the back foot, smashed square of the wicket, but just a single

14.4 - Benn to de Kock, 1 run, now comes down the track and gently nurdles a single to mid-wicket

14.3 - Benn to de Kock, no run, de Kock has missed out there, used his feet and whacked the full toss straight to the fielder at mid-wicket

14.2 - Benn to de Kock, 2 runs, now Sammy isn't happy with Fletcher's effort. de Kock used his feet and nudged it to deep backward square, Fletcher ran in and tried to pick it with one hand, fumbled and gave away the second. Sammy makes his displeasure known

14.1 - Benn to Wiese, 1 run, Wiese makes room and then cracks the cut square of the wicket

13.6 - Gayle to de Kock, no run, well-adjusted by de Kock. Used his feet and realised he wasn't to the pitch of it, so square drove it, found point

13.5 - Gayle to de Kock, 2 runs, "two, two" was the call as soon as de Kock got forward and flicked that to Russell at deep mid-wicket. He ran in and failed to grab the ball cleanly. He is unhappy with himself and bangs the turf hard in disgust

13.4 - Gayle to de Kock, no run, fraction short outside off, de Kock rocks back and cuts, but finds cover

13.3 - Gayle to Wiese, 1 run, flicked in the air, but well wide of mid-wicket

13.2 - Gayle to Wiese, no run, pitches outside leg and turns in to rap the pad, stifled appeal for lbw, but that was never out

13.1 - Gayle to Wiese, FOUR, beautifully played by Wiese. That came out of nowhere, darted in flat on middle, Wiese reverse swept it past the backward point inside the circle, no chance for the sweeper to cut that off. Wiese is playing a fine cameo here

12.4 - Benn to de Kock, 1 run, uses his feet and nudges with the spin to deep backward square leg

12.3 - Benn to Wiese, 1 run, slower and spun away from off, Wiese eases it square on the off-side, a quick single taken even as the fielder at point fails to grab the ball cleanly

12.2 - Benn to de Kock, 1 run, low full toss outside off, de Kock gets forward and drives to sweeper cover, for a single

12.1 - Benn to de Kock, no run, yorker length down leg, de Kock digs it out to short mid-wicket

11.5 - Brathwaite to Wiese, 1 run, very full on the stumps, Wiese gets his front leg out of the way and drives to long-off

11.4 - Brathwaite to de Kock, 1 run, slower delivery outside off, de Kock cuts to sweeper cover

Now round the wicket

11.3 - Brathwaite to Wiese, 1 run, length delivery on off, a thick inside edge down to short fine, a single taken

11.2 - Brathwaite to Wiese, 2 runs, Wiese is batting sensibly. Nudged into the gap at mid-wicket, takes on Bravo and makes it. de Kock had to dive back in and did so. Played very softly to ensure it was two

11.1 - Brathwaite to Wiese, 2 runs, slower delivery outside off, Wiese gets forward and drives square of the wicket, Russell attacks the ball in order to prevent the second, but can't grab the ball cleanly. For a moment the batsmen thought about a third, but they don't go for it. Lots of shouting at Russell by the West Indians

10.5 - Benn to Wiese, 2 runs, now rocks back and cuts to deep backward point, Samuels tidies up to save the boundary

10.4 - Benn to Wiese, byes, FOUR, missed stumping! And Benn isn't happy. What's more it has run away for four more. Precious runs these. Wiese got forward and missed the flick, went through the bat and pad gap and Ramdin was nowhere near catching that and whipping the bails off. Runs away past his grasp and to the fence. Wiese was a long way down and is very lucky to stay there

10.3 - Benn to de Kock, 1 run, yorker length on middle and leg, nudged through mid-wicket

10.2 - Benn to Wiese, 1 run, fraction short outside off, Wiese rocks back and cuts square of the wicket

de Kock 31(29) Wiese 3(5) Dwayne Bravo 2-0-10-1

9.6 - Dwayne Bravo to de Kock, FOUR, poor end to the over and de Kock has got four. Slower and short down leg, de Kock rocks back and pulls behind square, rocketed to the fence. South Africa needed that and there is lots of thigh thumping in the dug-out

9.5 - Dwayne Bravo to de Kock, 2 runs, a slower delivery following de Kock who clips it wide of long-on for two more

9.4 - Dwayne Bravo to de Kock, no run, a huge appeal for caught behind, but Kettleborough is a fine umpire and he has spotted that the bat has hit the ground. Full and wide outside off, de Kock misses the square drive. There was a huge noise once the ball went past bat, but clearly no edge there

9.3 - Dwayne Bravo to de Kock, no run, a slower delivery right on middle, de Kock digs it out to cover

9.2 - Dwayne Bravo to Wiese, 1 run, now Gayle has a chance to run Wiese out but misses from mid-wicket. The short ball outside off, Wiese spliced the pull and was in danger of being caught, the ball fell short of the fielder and had the throw been on target, Wiese was walking back. There was a chance for an extra run but the deep fielder prevented that. Gayle wasn't happy with the backing up effort of Sammy there

9.1 - Dwayne Bravo to Wiese, no run, another slower delivery, Wiese digs it out to backward point. de Kock has to rush back and does so as the throw is a bit off target. Lots of nerves from the South Africans

A slip and a leg-slip in

8.4 - Gayle to de Kock, 1 run, on the stumps, driven to long-off

8.3 - Gayle to Wiese, 1 run, very full on the stumps, wristed to long-on

David Wiese, right handed bat, comes to the crease

8.2 - Gayle to D Miller, out Bowled!! Wow! West Indies are on fire and South Africa are tottering. Priceless reaction from Gayle. Just stands there and scratches his chin in bemusement. Nonchalance from the big Jamaican. And as he is surrounded by his mates, he asks what has happened. Pure gold. Turn for him, pitches around middle and Miller isn't forward to that, prefers to go back to defend, is opened up by the spin, misses the bat and hits the top of the stumps. Totally misread that. But what was worth seeing was the celebration of Gayle. Can South Africa bat out their overs? D Miller b Gayle 1(4)

Gayle to D Miller, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

8.1 - Gayle to D Miller, no run, ooh! That is risky, decides to go for the reverse sweep, takes it on the full and finds backward point. The fielder dived forward and made a good stop

7.6 - Dwayne Bravo to D Miller, 1 run, this is a hat-trick of slower balls, Miller lunges out and gets it off the inside half of the bat through mid-wicket. End of a fantastic over from Dwayne Bravo. Miller didn't know much about that one either

7.5 - Dwayne Bravo to D Miller, no run, another one and almost another wicket. Dwayne Bravo doesn't know how that wicked slower delivery hasn't found its target. Dips on a lunging Miller and misses off by a whisker. The feet went searching for the ball, but the late dip on it meant that Miller was left looking helpless. Wonderful stuff!

David Miller, left handed bat, comes to the crease

7.4 - Dwayne Bravo to de Villiers, out Bowled!! What a moment in the game. de Villiers is done and dusted. Look at that reaction from Dwayne Bravo, he has deceived one of the best batsmen in the world, if not the best with an outrageous slower delivery. Reminds me of the ball he bowled to Yuvraj Singh to castle him in an ODI to help his side win a few years back in the West Indies. That time Yuvi was clean bowled, here de Villiers is out off an inside edge. Slower one on off, de Villiers was early into the swipe to leg, the ball takes the edge and rattles the stumps. Dwayne Bravo is off running and celebrating. Does his champion jig before he is engulfed by his team-mates. de Villiers has a look at the toe of his bat before walking off. Could well be the game right there folks! de Villiers b Dwayne Bravo 10(12) [4s-1]

Sammy is very active. Lots of hand-waving and changing the field

7.3 - Dwayne Bravo to de Kock, 1 run, another cutter on middle and leg, nudged to deep backward square leg

7.2 - Dwayne Bravo to de Kock, no run, poor ball and de Kock misses out. Slower delivery down leg, swiped straight to Benn at short fine, sent back

7.1 - Dwayne Bravo to de Villiers, 1 run, had that hit the stumps at de Kock's end, he was gone. Dwayne Bravo knew it. It was drilled right back at the bowler, Bravo got a hand but the ball went wide of the stumps. de Kock was backing up a long way and had no chance of getting back

6.3 - Benn to de Villiers, 1 run, again de Villiers wanted two after nudging it to mid-wicket. But the deep fielder got there quickly

6.2 - Benn to de Villiers, 2 runs, lofted inside out to sweeper cover, Samuels is beaten by the spin on the shot, is late and they rush back for the second

2.6 - Gayle to Rossouw, out Caught by A Russell!! There comes the jig from Gayle. But almost a comical mixup between Benn and Russell in the field. It was tossed up outside off, spun away and Rossouw edged the lofted hit over cover. It was an easy catch and Benn wanted it at short third, despite being away from the ball. In the end he allows the dolly to be taken at backward point. Both he and Russell look at each other and share a laugh after it ended well. The ball spun and once it was out of his reach, Rossouw was always losing the battle, especially when he was looking to go over cover. du Plessis 9(7) de Kock 2(4) A Russell 1-0-9-1

1.6 - A Russell to du Plessis, out Caught by Benn!! Has Benn taken that cleanly? The soft signal is out. No problems with the front foot no-ball. Benn dove forward and took it at mid-off. Now the third umpire is pressed into action. "Certainly fingers underneath" says the third umpire Bruce Oxenford. He is having a look at another angle now. He wants it to be zoomed in now. Anxious wait for everyone involved. "Kets, I have no conclusive evidence to overturn your original decison of out" says Oxenford and he has given that out. Coming back to the delivery, it was full and on middle, looked like du Plessis checked his lofted drive, the ball was dying on big Benn who isn't known to be the most agile of fielders in the West Indies team, but he took it inches from the ground. The fingers looked underneath the ball and replays proved that right. du Plessis stood his ground as he is entitled to. While Benn was confident all the way. Sammy after the decision is made has a few words to say to the big man. du Plessis c Benn b A Russell 9(7) [6s-1]

A Russell to du Plessis, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

1.6 - A Russell to du Plessis, wide, high bouncer, left alone. Called a wide for height

1.5 - A Russell to du Plessis, 2 runs, nips back in, an inside edge onto the pad on the forward defence, the ball rolls towards mid-wicket. Smart running from du Plessis and de Kock, spotted the chance for a second and the latter dove back in to make it. Sammy isn't happy with that effort. But must say it was well-judged

1.4 - A Russell to du Plessis, SIX, that is a du Plessis special. Trademark du Plessis. Shimmies down the track, takes it on a length and then lofts on the rise, a clean connection and the ball sails all the way over long-off. That should set du Plessis going

1.3 - A Russell to du Plessis, no run, short of length on off, du Plessis defends to point. de Kock was looking for the quick single, no chance and du Plessis didn't even look at his partner

1.2 - A Russell to du Plessis, no run, goes wide of the crease and angles it on a fuller length on middle, du Plessis is nearly squared up, but manages to push it softly to mid-on. Didn't try to play to leg which was a good thing

1.1 - A Russell to du Plessis, no run, what a ball first up! That is unplayable. Angled in on a fuller length on off, once it hits the seam, it jags away appreciably and catches du Plessis unawares, he did well not to nick that. Beautiful start from Russell

Andre Russell, right-arm fast, comes into the attack

de Kock 2(4) du Plessis 1(1) Badree 1-0-4-0

0.6 - Badree to de Kock, no run, hint of turn away, shortish as well, de Kock rocks back and opens the face of the bat on the cut, can't beat Benn at short third

0.5 - Badree to de Kock, 2 runs, "two, two" was the call as de Kock got forward and drove it wide of cover. Easily done in the end

0.4 - Badree to du Plessis, 1 run, very full on the stumps, du Plessis gets forward and drives to long-on

Faf du Plessis, right handed bat, comes to the crease

0.3 - Badree to de Kock, out Amla Run Out!! Horrid mixup! That is a gift of a wicket. Sliding on middle, a dangerous shot to be playing first up, as de Kock made room and cut that from the stumps to cover-point, it went to Russell's left, he is one of West Indies' best fielders and they took him on. Fatal! He slid and then produced the throw to Ramdin who did the rest. Amla was stretching to make it, but was caught just short. The third umpire was called for, but Amla knew he was gone and started his walk back. Replays show that Amla hesitated and that cost him. He was standing waiting for the ball to pass the fielder, which it never did. de Kock was sure and set off, it was Amla who was found wanting. Amla run out (A Russell/Ramdin) 1(1)

Badree to de Kock, THAT'S OUT!! Run Out!!

Amla is walking off. He is run-out! He is so sure that he isn't waiting for the third umpire's decision. He even walks for run-outs! What a man!

0.2 - Badree to de Kock, no run, sliding on off, de Kock gets forward and defends solidly towards mid-off

A slip in place for the leftie

0.1 - Badree to Amla, 1 run, tossed up on leg, flicked to deep square leg, Amla is off the mark. Very full for the ball to do anything

Amla and de Kock are at the crease. Amla is on strike. Badree will open the attack

So that ends a tight game of cricket. Faf looked really disappointed at losing this one. He knows that they have made life really difficult for themselves to make it to the last four. A few more runs on the board would have been handy. Anyway, the tournament moves on and we have another double-header coming up tomorrow. First, New Zealand and Bangladesh face off in Kolkata, before England and Sri Lanka square off in Delhi. Looking forward to your company for both games. Goodbye!

Faf: "It felt like we were just behind the whole game and we were catching up. We did well to get it close in the end. Needed 10 more runs, it was a 135 deck. West Indies were a little better than us today. It is always important for the senior players to step up and they need to be there. Me and Hash (Amla) play the anchor and the others play around us. They (West Indies) put us under pressure and it was a bit frantic in the first six overs with the bat. We didn't know what a good score was on the wicket and lost 5-10 runs there, which might have cost us the game. No party for us tonight (smiles). We will be looking at other results. We were not at our best and when you are not playing great cricket, you can't expect to reach the semifinal. If we sneak in, it would be great."

Sammy: "I would agree with you (referring to him being nervous). I was smiling because of the situation. We came here to take one step and that is to qualify and we have done that. We are really happy. There were two left-handers in the middle, I backed Gayle to do it. We started well and we have been putting pressure on the opposition. I am really excited about my team and everytime they respond. Today we were under pressure and once again they responded. We have to really celebrate this win. It was a tough win and wins don't come often for us."

Samuels: "Sometimes you have to bat according to the situation. My job was to go out there and build partnerships with my partners. Once I am set, I know one over can change the game. Not bat differently, if Gayle and Charles get going early, then I can come in and step on the gas as I did against England. It was a bit on the slower side and credit to South African bowlers for bowling well. The bowlers are doing a wonderful job and hopefully they can carry right through. Badree and Benn have bowled well and we have managed to get early wickets. We have a mix of different players in the team."

Marlon Samuels is the Man of the Match

There was a big break in play after 16 overs when the umpires decided to change the ball. The groundsmen also used the opportunity to absorb a bit of dew on the outfield. After a longish break, West Indies lost the plot as Tahir bagged two-in-two to bring the Proteas back. Wiese followed it up with a good 18th over, but Samuels managed two streaky boundaries in the penultimate over to ease a few nerves. When Rabada began the last over with a dot, West Indies were under serious pressure but Brathwaite muscled a six next ball to make it a formality from there on. With this loss, things are not fully in South Africa's hands. They not only need to win against Sri Lanka, but also have to hope that Sri Lanka would beat England.

Faf almost gets emotional as the players shake hands. South Africa fought hard, but they didn't have enough runs. West Indies have managed to seal this in the end. They should have won comfortably for the situation they were in earlier. Anyway, those two points are in their bag and they progress to the next round. Chasing a modest total, the crowd roared when Gayle hit a first-ball four, but Rabada castled him next ball to get South Africa off to a good start. A mix-up saw Fletcher walking back. Charles swung at the ball and managed a few hits to the fence before throwing it away. Bravo came and went but Samuels dropped anchor at one end.

19.4 - Rabada to Ramdin, 1 run, in the airrrrr, dropped. West Indies win the game by three wickets and with it qualify for the semifinals. Shortish slower ball outside off stump, Ramdin guides uppishly, Amla jumps at widish backward point and tries to grab it with his right hand, but only manages to palm it. Jubilation in the West Indies dug-out. Sammy is all smiles. Ramdin jumps and pumps his fist before punching gloves with Brathwaite

West Indies have won.

The batsmen converge to discuss. Faf brings the field up. He could bring more men in

19.3 - Rabada to Brathwaite, 1 run, shortish slower delivery on the off stump, Brathwaite hops and pulls it behind square on the on-side. Scores are level now and the smiles are back in that West Indies outfit

19.3 - Rabada to Brathwaite, wide, and now he bowls a wide. Rabada has lost it. Down the leg-side, easy call for the umpire

19.2 - Rabada to Brathwaite, SIX, he's muscled that and West Indies get their noses ahead. The dug-out looks relieved. The batsmen punch gloves. Rabada bowls a bad ball. Length delivery right in the slot, can't bowl there, at least could have been the slower ball, Brathwaite slogs and sends it deep into the stands over deep mid-wicket

19.1 - Rabada to Brathwaite, no run, beaten! Rabada starts off with a dot ball. Short of a length delivery outside off stump, Brathwaite swings and misses and the pressure is on the batsman

Kagiso Rabada [3.0-0-29-1] is back into the attack

What a comeback from South Africa. West Indies need 9 runs off the last over. Rabada with the ball in hand. Remember the last over he bowled to MS Dhoni a few months ago in Kanpur? He can do this folks! Fasten your seat belts!

18.6 - C Morris to Brathwaite, 1 run, sensibly, Brathwaite gently knocks this slower ball to mid-wicket

Denesh Ramdin, right handed bat, comes to the crease

18.5 - C Morris to Samuels, out Caught by de Villiers!! In the airrrr, de Villiers is getting under it and he won't drop those. Morris bangs the slower ball short, Samuels goes leg-side and tries to go over the bowler, the ball goes off the bottom half of the bat and flies towards long-on, ABdV runs forward, takes the catch and pumps his fist. Samuels c de Villiers b C Morris 44(44) [4s-6]

C Morris to Samuels, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

18.4 - C Morris to Samuels, FOUR, it's two lucky boundaries in the over for Samuels and Morris is furious. Full delivery outside off stump, Samuels backs away and then had to reach out to get bat on ball, toe-ended that and short third man is not even in the picture. So cruel for the bowler. He did nothing wrong there, but four runs go against his name

18.3 - C Morris to Brathwaite, 1 run, shortish slower delivery, Brathwaite hops and fends it to square leg

Amla and Tahir discuss something

18.2 - C Morris to Samuels, 1 run, low full toss and it's driven along the ground to sweeper cover

18.1 - C Morris to Samuels, FOUR, edgedddddd and third man is inside the ring. Short of a length slower delivery from Morris, Samuels backs away and tries to cut, gets an outside edge that flies to the left of short third man

17.6 - Wiese to Brathwaite, no run, the slower ball bumper, Brathwaite ducks thinking it was a wide for height but the square leg umpire was happy with it

17.5 - Wiese to Brathwaite, no run, beaten again. These are golden dots from Wiese. Brathwaite only wants to target that mid-wicket region, when he could easily tap it into the off-side. No contact made and the pressure builds

17.4 - Wiese to Brathwaite, no run, slower delivery outside off stump, Brathwaite swings across the line, gets an under edge that rolls to the keeper

17.3 - Wiese to Samuels, 1 run, Samuels chops the slower delivery to point

17.2 - Wiese to Brathwaite, 1 run, a direct-hit would have been curtains for Brathwaite. Oh! In fact, Brathwaite's bat got stuck before the crease. Slower delivery on the stumps, Brathwaite defends it to the right of the bowler and sets off, Wiese attacks the ball and quickly turns to throw, but he just missed the target. That prompts a nervous smile from Bravo in the dug-out

17.1 - Wiese to Samuels, 1 run, slower delivery outside off stump, Samuels guides it to short third man

David Wiese [3.0-0-16-1] is back into the attack

16.5 - Tahir to Sammy, out Bowled!! I told you, I told you that break in play wasn't good for West Indies and look at Imran Tahir now. He runs around the ground with his arms aloft and pats the South African badge on his chest. What a blow for South Africa and Tahir is on a hat-trick now. This was the googly, Sammy horribly leaves a big bat-pad gap and tries to defend. The ball sneaks through those acres of space on offer and crashes into the stumps. Sammy b Tahir 0(1)

16.4 - Tahir to A Russell, out Caught by D Miller!! In the airrrrr and this one's taken. Finally, Tahir strikes in his final over and the crowd gets behind the South African team. It's a neutral crowd and they will support for every wicket and every boundary. This was the googly on the stumps, Russell slogs across the line, hit it flat and straight to deep mid-wicket. Surely, that break in play hasn't helped West Indies. Samuels was almost caught twice in the first two balls and now Russell has been dismissed. A Russell c D Miller b Tahir 4(8)

Tahir to A Russell, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

16.3 - Tahir to A Russell, no run, googly on the off stump, Russell defends off the back foot

16.2 - Tahir to Samuels, 1 run, Samuels lofts, not timed well, shouts of "caaaaatch," from the South African players, but it dropped well in front of the man at sweeper cover

16.1 - Tahir to Samuels, no run, oh dropped! There you go, first ball after the break could have been a wicket, but Tahir is not agile enough to take that. This was full and in the slot, driven hard to the left of the bowler, Tahir stuck his left hand out but never looked to taking it

Once again an issue with the ball. Second time the umpires have been forced to change the ball. South Africa use this opportunity to regroup. Will this break in play help them? So often we've seen a break act against the batting side. The groundsmen use a rope to get rid of the dew. So this turns out to be a very long break. 24 needed off 24 now.

5.4 - Wiese to Charles, 1 run, Charles turns it to short mid-wicket for an easy run

5.4 - Wiese to Charles, wide, this is down the leg-side

Marlon Samuels, right handed bat, comes to the crease

5.3 - Wiese to Charles, out Andre Fletcher Run Out!! Mix-up and that's a brilliant piece of fielding from Rossouw. He threw off balance, there was no one at the stumps, but he got his radar spot on. Short of a length delivery outside off stump, Charles opens the face of the bat and pushes it to the right of backward point, Rossouw didn't have to move much and that might have prompted Charles to think the run wasn't on. His partner though thought otherwise and was racing across. In fact, Charles took a couple of steps out of the crease and then stopped, Fletcher tried to turn but he slipped. He would have had enough to get back if Rossouw missed but unfortunately for him the throw was bang on target. Rossouw roars and pumps his fists in joy. Andre Fletcher run out (Rossouw) 11(11) [6s-1]

Wiese to Charles, THAT'S OUT!! Run Out!!

5.2 - Wiese to Charles, no run, oh I thought the ball sailed over mid-wicket, but Charles only managed to toe-end the slog to point. He swung hard after backing away, lack of pace on the ball meant he played a little early

5.1 - Wiese to Charles, 2 runs, expectedly Wiese starts off with a slower delivery, Charles works it through mid-wicket for a couple

David Wiese, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

Andre Fletcher 11(11) Charles 13(17) Tahir 1-0-2-0

4.6 - Tahir to Andre Fletcher, no run, flighted delivery on the stumps, Fletcher defends off the front foot

4.5 - Tahir to Andre Fletcher, no run, shortish and outside off stump, Fletcher tries to cut, half shout from the keeper, Tahir belts out a loud appeal though, but umpire Richard Kettleborough was only keen to look down and keep count of the balls bowled in this over

4.4 - Tahir to Charles, 1 run, Charles backs away and drives off the inner half of the bat to long-on

4.3 - Tahir to Charles, no run, Tahir shortens his length on seeing the batsman step out, Charles swings across the line, gets hit on the thigh pad and he uses his feet to ensure that the ball doesn't roll back onto the sticks

4.2 - Tahir to Charles, no run, defended straight back to the bowler

4.1 - Tahir to Andre Fletcher, 1 run, flatter in trajectory and on the off stump, Fletcher cuts off the back foot, diving stop at backward point and a direct-hit at the bowler's end would have been curtains for Fletcher

Imran Tahir, right-arm leg break, comes into the attack

West Indies have scored 22 runs in the last 2 overs and that will settle a few nerves in the dug-out.

Charles 12(14) Andre Fletcher 10(8) C Morris 2-0-14-0

3.6 - C Morris to Charles, FOUR, that's so easily done by Charles. Length ball and Charles backs away. An easy slap over extra-cover and it sailed over the infield

3.6 - C Morris to Charles, wide, short and down the leg-side, easy call for the umpire

3.5 - C Morris to Charles, no run, fullish in the length, driven to mid-on

3.4 - C Morris to Charles, 2 runs, wristy hit from Charles. On the stumps was this length ball, he easily flicks through mid-wicket, the shot looked good, but there is protection in the deep

3.3 - C Morris to Charles, no run, full and attacking the stumps this time, driven straight back to the bowler, Morries fields and threatens to throw the stumps down at Charles's end. Eye-contact between the bowler and the batsman

3.2 - C Morris to Charles, FOUR, Charles opens his stance and waits, Morris offers a juicy full ball, more like following the batsman, but it was right in the slot for Charles to drive and he sent it wide of mid-on

3.1 - C Morris to Charles, no run, Charles opens the face of the bat and pushes it to backward point

Andre Fletcher 10(8) Charles 2(8) Rabada 2-0-15-1

2.6 - Rabada to Andre Fletcher, SIX, now that is from the middle of the bat. Length ball from Rabada, can't bowl those. Especially to these West Indies batsmen who can hit sixes at will. An easy hit over mid-on and it has enough legs to clear the boundary

2.5 - Rabada to Andre Fletcher, no run, short of length delivery from Rabada, Fletcher tries to play on the on-side, but gets hit on the thigh pad

2.4 - Rabada to Charles, 1 run, oh he's missed out on a freebie! Low full toss from Rabada, no one at mid-wicket and focus on timing the ball would have got him a four, instead he tries to hit hard and mistimes it to the right of mid-on

2.4 - Rabada to Charles, wide, banged short, Charles was keen to pull, but stopped midway, anyway the ball was well above his head to be called a wide

2.3 - Rabada to Charles, no run, another wild swing from Charles. Only connects with thin air. Shots like these can put pressure on that dressing room! Watch the ball, Charles! Full and outside off stump, Charles tries to muscle it back over the bowler's head, but fails badly

2.2 - Rabada to Andre Fletcher, 1 run, leg stumpish from Rabada, Fletcher works it off the inside half of the bat to backward square leg

2.1 - Rabada to Andre Fletcher, 2 runs, lovely hit, but an excellent full length dive to his wrong side, right side, from Phangiso saves two for South Africa. This was cut hard, cover-point's fielding effort denies the batsman a boundary

This is a good start from South Africa. A wicket here will put West Indies under a bit of pressure before pace off the ball does the rest.

Charles 1(6) Andre Fletcher 1(4) C Morris 1-0-3-0

1.6 - C Morris to Charles, no run, the new ball is swinging for both Morris and Rabada. Lovely outswinger on a fuller length, Charles just swings and misses

1.5 - C Morris to Andre Fletcher, 1 run, this is full and swinging away slightly, driven hard but mid-off tidies up

1.5 - C Morris to Andre Fletcher, wide, this time Fletcher walks across, Morris bangs it short, Fletcher ducks and it's called a wide, just marginally down the leg-side

1.4 - C Morris to Andre Fletcher, no run, Fletcher was in two minds there. Shortish and outside off stump, Fletcher thought about the cut, but then as it was too close to play the shot, he let it go

1.3 - C Morris to Andre Fletcher, no run, nice delivery. Outswinger on a fullish length and very close to the off stump, Fletcher was on the front foot to block, the ball rolled towards backward point off the outside edge

1.2 - C Morris to Charles, 1 run, oh the inswinger this time, Charles went leg-side, but was cramped for room on the attempted big hit by the movement, gets it off the inside half of the bat and goes to the right of mid-on, where ABdV tidies up and gets the crowd to chant his name

1.1 - C Morris to Charles, no run, fullish and outside off stump, ignored

Chris Morris, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

Andre Fletcher 0(1) Charles 0(3) Rabada 1-0-4-1

0.6 - Rabada to Andre Fletcher, no run, swing and a miss from Fletcher. Fullish and swinging away outside off stump, Fletcher wanted to loft it over the infield, but missed it by a mile

Andre Fletcher, right handed bat, comes to the crease

0.5 - Rabada to Gayle, out Bowled!! Oh that's too lazy from the big man and he's disappointed this crowd, who were so happy to see him hit a first-ball four. Nothing great about this delivery, but just that Gayle was so lazy to move his front foot. Massive wicket for the Proteas. There was talk of South Africa not having an off-spinner to contain Gayle at the start, but they've negated him in the very first over with a pacer. Full and aimed on the off stump, just a hint of inswing on this and that was good enough to sneak through the bat-pad gap. Now there is more belief in that South African camp. Gayle b Rabada 4(2) [4s-1]

Rabada to Gayle, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

0.4 - Rabada to Gayle, FOUR, off the mark in style. Rabada goes for the yorker, but bowls a leg stump low full toss, Gayle brings his bat down in time and it goes off the inside half of the bat, fine leg was inside the ring and it went well wide of him

Right then! Loud cheer from the crowd as they saw Gayle take that run to face his first ball

0.3 - Rabada to Charles, leg byes, 1 run, poor line, but Rabada gets away with it, short of length delivery down the leg-side, a tickle would have been four, but Charles misses and the ball rolls behind square off the thigh pad

0.2 - Rabada to Charles, no run, once again width offered outside off stump, Charles pushes at it with an angled bat, a diving Rossouw at point stops the ball to his right and saves a few runs

Just a fly slip in place

0.1 - Rabada to Charles, no run, starts off with a widish outswinger outside off stump, Charles slashes and misses

Charles and Gayle are at the crease. Charles is on strike. Rabada will open the attack
