India have recalled left-hander wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel to the Test squad after 8 years.

Patel has been handed this opportunity after Wriddhiman Saha strained his left thigh during the 2nd Test against England.

BCCI stated,

“

As a precautionary measure, Saha has been advised rest and will not play in the next Test match of the series. Parthiv Patel will replace Saha in the Indian team for the third Test.

”

Patel got an upper hand over the other wicketkeeper-batsmen like Naman Ojha, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant for his experience and for being a left-handed batsman.

Gautam Gambhir was released from the team and Bhuvneshwar Kumar was recalled to the squad.
