Chennai Super Kings (CSK) - IPL 5 Analysis

Two time champions and now two time runners-up; CSK's road towards the final this time around has been quite eventful. With its games all but over, its chances to enter the play-offs depended heavily on other teams. As luck would have it, CSK scrapped through to the play-offs. And once, it arrived in the play-offs, Dhoni and co. were nothing short of spectacular.

Hits:

Dwayne Bravo:

The man from the Caribbean Islands was in prime form for CSK with bat, ball and on the field too. Few spectacular catches, many scores of immensely valuable 30s and 40s at the consistency ratio of 37.50% and an average efficiency of 100.70% proved why he has been rated so highly in international cricket folklore.

Flops:

Suresh Raina:

The man who scored 400 runs per season every time he wore yellow had been lacklustre throughout IPL-5.

Performance of our Darkhorses:

Faaf du Plessis:

HoldingWilley predicted that Faaf du Plessis would be the man to look out for and he delivered brilliantly. Opening the batting in the absence of Michael Hussey, du Plessis scored 398 runs with the avg. efficiency of 117.63% and consistency ratio of 58.33%.

George Bailey:

He was our second dark-horse; sadly though he did not get many games.
