Subramaniam Badrinath walks in to bag the spot Laxman vacated. Selectors have announced that Badrinath will take up that no.6 spot that has been opened post Laxman's retirement for New Zealand test series.

Out goes Laxman, in comes S Badrinath. And this is not the first time either. Few years back, when Laxman had to sit out due to an injury, Badrinath was called to fill in the spot. That was temporary, but now the selectors have thrown a door wide open to seal that place for more than a test or two.
Badri is known for his ability to grind it out in the middle. And unlike the last time, he will hope to get a longer rope and more runs. Only question is, are Indian selectors using Badri as a stop gap arrangement or there exist some strong logic to rope him in?
