VVS Laxman returns to the Indian team for the Test series against New Zealand. Ishant Sharma will also be playing after a long break. The huge void left by the retirement of Rahul Dravid at number 3 will most likely be filled by Cheteshwar Pujara although Ajinkya Rahane is also in the squad. Rohit Sharma has been dropped after a string of low scores.

The Test team looks quite unfamiliar with Rahul Dravid not in it. Hopefully, the young guns will find their feet in international cricket. After a long time, someone else other than Dravid will walk out at number three. This series is a glimpse into the future of Indian Test cricket.
