James Anderson's expected omission from England's third Investec Test squad was confirmed on Sunday morning as he was rested ahead of a busy summer schedule.
Anderson has been an almost ever-present in the past few years but will sit out the dead rubber against the West Indies at Edgbaston as England look to protect the paceman from injury.

This is how one preserves one's fast bowlers. Of course one needs to first win the series within the first few games too. The ECB and Cricket Australie seem to be going the right way as far as taking care of their fast bowlers is concerned. Maybe there is a lesson to be learned for all the other teams. Finding the balance between playing to stay match fit and not over playing has become very crucial these days. With premature retirements happening all around and at an alarming pace, cricket definitely needs to look at taking better care of the players, health-wise.
