India cricket captain MS Dhoni was surprised at Kevin Pietersen's quitting ODIs and T20 cricket and hailed him as one of the modern times great.

“This has come as news to me,” Dhoni said when asked about England's maverick batsman Pietersen’s surprise announcement.

In Gurgaon, to launch a sports gym, Dhoni heaped praise for Pietersen. “KP is a great player. Not just England but the cricket fraternity will miss his presence in the upcoming ICC World T20 in Sri Lanka,” said Dhoni.
