Day 1 : Zimbabwe got off to a great start with Sibanda and the debutant Mawoyo negotiating the new look Pakistani attack with ease. Runs were hard to come by but they applied themselves well to grind out a century partnership before Sibanda fell for 45 to Ajmal. Ajmal picked up Masakadza and Taylor cheaply before Taibu stemmed the rot. However he fell just when their partnership was beginning to flourish for a well made 44. Ervine gave Mayowo company till the end of the day as Zimbabwe ended it at 245/4.

Day 2 : Mawoyo and Ervine continued where they had lefto ff but their 94 run stand was broken when Ervine fell for 49. Lamb and Mawoyo continued to frustrate Pakistan as Mawoyo scored a century on debut and kept going on. Ajmal once again got the breakthrough when he ended this partnership at 95 runs when he trapped lamb lbw. This marked Cheema’s term to wipe up the tail as he picked the lat 4 wickets as Mawoyo remained unbeaten on 163* and Zimbabwe posted a mammoth 412. Jarvis knocked off Taufiq for just 4 but after that it was turn of Zimbabwe bowlers to suffer as Hafeez took them apart as he raced away to end the day at 79* as Pakistan reached 116/1.

Day 3 : There was no respite for Zimbabwe on day 3 as Hafeez and Azhar nearly put up 200 runs before lamb got Azhar for 75. Younis joined Hafeez who fell soon after scoring a century. Younis shut down shop to prevent any embarrassing collapse as he and Misbah slowly ground the Zimbabwe attack to dust with some dour batting. Misbah fell just after they recorded a century stand for 66. Umar joined Younis and it looked like they would see out the day before Umar fell to a freaky dismissal in the last over as the ball ricocheted off a fielder to another fielder. Pakistan ended the day at 357/5.

Day 4 : Younis and Adnan started 4th day brightly as they sensed a chance to win. They were going well till a mindless run out saw Adnan dismissed for 36. Younis followed soon after falling for 88 and after that it was a matter time before Zimbabwe knocked off Pakistan’s tail as they were bowled out for 466 with a lead of 54 runs. Sibanda threw his wicket away needlessly and Mawoyo played inside the line of a ripper as Zimbabwe stuttered right at the start. Sensing a win Cheema, Ajmal and Hafeez went after their batsmen who were not used to this pressure and succumbed to it as Zimbabwe collapsed to 69/8 before Taibu and Jarvis put together a partnership. Taibu ended the day at 58* as Zimbabwe were in deep trouble at 135/8.

Day 5 : It didn’t take Pakistan to knock off the remaining 2 wickets as Zimbabwe were skittled for 141 to give Pakistan a target of 88 to chase for a win. Taufiq fell early again but Hafeez and Azhar once again played solidly to end any hopes of a shock win and even though both fell to Price for 38 and 22 respectively, Younis and Misbah saw Paksitan home by 7 wickets.
