Dilshan could not repeat his heroics but Mahela looked in stunning form before 2 quick wickets reduced Sri Lanka to 79/3 after 9 with 52% COW. Jayawardene and Sangakkara took SL to 121/3 after 14 with 53% COW before Hastings came on to derails their progress. SL ended with 157/9 as their COW dipped to 48%. Australia came out with murder on their mind as Watson and Warner tore apart the SL attack. Watto raced away to his fifty as Aus reached 64/0 after 5 with 67% COW. But Mendis had different plans as he took 6 wickets to rip through Aus batting to finish with 6/16 as Australia ended with 149/9 to lose by 8 runs.

Dilshan early but Mahela looked in a sublime touch as 41 runs were scored in the first 5 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. This period saw SL’s COW remain unchanged.

Mahela’s failed to emulate Dilshan

but his inning of 86 was enough to help Sri Lanka reach a handy 157/9. 4 wickets fell as SL tried to accelerate as SL scored just 34 runs in last 5 overs and their COW dipped by 3% to 48%.

5 overs: AUS 64/0	AUS 67%	Watson absolutely bludgeoned his
		way to a brutal fifty as Australia seemed to just run away with the match. Along with Warner he put together 64 runs in 5 overs as Aus’s COW jumped 15% to 67%.
10 overs: AUS 78/4	AUS 69%	Introduction of Mendis turned the
		match around on its head as 4 wickets fell for just 14 runs in 5 overs but Aus’s blazing start meant that their COW actually went up by 2% to 69%.
15 overs: AUS 113/4	AUS 73%	Captain White and Smith put their
		head down and negotiated the tricky overs as they accrued 35 runs in these 5 overs without losing any wickets. This period was Aus’s COW jump by 4% to 73%.
20 overs: AUS 149/9	AUS 0%	With 45 runs needed off 5 overs,
		Mendis came back to finish the unfinished job as he destroyed the Australian line up to end with 6-16 as Australia manage to score just 36 runs to lose by 8 runs.
