Man of the Match : J Trott Old Trafford, Manchester (9 July 2011)
cow-analysis

Batting first in the series decider England once again raced off to 75/0 after 10 with 55% COW. This was followed by a mandatory collapse as Eng reached 95/3 after 16 with COW down to 49%. Morgan and Trott but together a century stand before Morgan threw away his wicket after reaching his fifty, Trott too succumbed to Randiv who ran through the middle lower order as England ended with 268/9 with 51% COW. SL seemed out of depth and fight at 30/3 after 9 with 37% COW before Sangakkara and Chandimal launched a counter attack. Just when they threatened to balance the keel Chandimal fell short of a fifty. Sanga fell soon after but Mathews and Mendis raised hopes of an unlikely win with a century stand before it all came crashing down with SL all out for 252 in 48.2 overs to lose by 16 runs.
