cow-analysis

CSK lost Vijay early and when Raina and Badri too fell soon after they were in trouble at 61/3 after 9 with 45% COW. Hussey played an uncharacteristically scratchy innings but along with Saha was involved in a mini partnership but once he fell Saha got no support from the rest as despite his fighting 46* CSK ended with 152/5 with 47% COW. It was identical for KTK as they lost Patel early and Baz was as scratchy as Hussey in his partnership first with Gnaneswara and then with Hodge. Both Hodge and Baz struggled to score fast and when Baz got out KTK were 85/3 after 14 with 45% COW. RJ couldn’t repeat his heroics and Hodge just couldn’t up the tempo as KTK ended with 141/5 to lose by 11 runs.

cow-key
  1st Innings (CSK) - 20 overs Maximum

arrow 5 overs: CSK 24/1 CSK 48% After a frenetic start by Murali Vijay,
Hussey slowed things down, maybe a bit too much. Chennai’s chances decreased by 5% during this period.
arrow 10 overs: CSK 64/3 CSK 44% Chennai got back with a proper run-rate
but they did lose both Rain and Badrinath. Chennai’s chances decreased by 4% during this period.
arrow 15 overs: CSK 101/4 CSK 44% Hussey alongside Saha stabilized the
Chennai innings and maintained the status-quo. Chennai’s chances decreased by 4% during this period.
arrow 20 overs: CSK 152/5 CSK 47% Saha showed a rare ballistic streak as
he got Chennai above the psychologically important 150 barrier (I might have made up this barrier). Chennai’s chances increased by 3% during this period.

  2nd Innings (KTK : Target 153) - 20 overs Maximum

arrow 5 overs: KTK 29/1 KTK 51% After Patel fell early, good bowling
from Chennai kept McCullum and co from exploding, . Kochi’s chances decreased by 2% during this period.
arrow 10 overs: KTK 63/2 KTK 51% Kochi sill had wickets in hand but the
required rate was getting into slightly difficult mode. Kochi’s chances did not change during this period.
arrow 15 overs: KTK 90/3 KTK 41% A very crucial passage of play went
Chennai’s way as only 27 runs were scored from 5 overs when the required rate was 9. Kochi’s chances decreased by 10% during this period.
arrow 20 overs: KTK 141/5 KTK 0% Kochi fell short despite a small burst
of runs from Hodge and Jadeja, sadly just 48 runs between overs 9-17 meant that the 38 runs off the last 3 overs were pointless. Chennai won by 11 runs.
