England were underdogs for this one and their start didn’t help. They found themselves struggling as they reached 31/2 after 9 with COW of 41%. At the point Trott and Bopara steadied the innings and set together a partnership but their slow batting meant COW never really went up. Trott fell for a well made 86 but barring Morgan’s quick 50 no one else showed the urgency needed as they could only score 229/6 after 50 with COW of 47%. England too opened with a spinner to try and do unto SL what they did to them but SL openers tackled spin and pace very well and both Tharanga and Dilshan hit unbeaten centuries as Sri Lanka wrapped up the match in 40th over to win by 10 wickets. |
