India’s chances were dealt another blow as even Sachin got injured. Make shift openers Parthiv and Rahane got off to a cautious start in slightly overcast conditions as India scored only 33 runs if first 9 overs as their COW dropped to 40%. However once they got their eyes in both of them went on an attack cutting and pulling the ball to all parts before Rahane hooked one to fine leg for 40 with India at 82/1 after 16 with 50% COW. DRS claimed Dravid’s wicket yet again but Kohli and Parthiv continued to lay a solid platform as India looked set for a big score. They both scored fifties and right when it looked ike England were in trouble Parthiv fell 5 short of a fifty. Rohit joined the injury list after facing just 1 ball and Kohli played on not so long after as India stumbled to 207/4 after 40 with 51% COW. Raina and MSD then ensured that India played out the overs and some good bowling by the English kept India down to 274/7 with 54% COW. PK’s love of England continued as he had Cook playing on and soon trapped Kieswetter LBW as England were in trouble at 23/2 after 7 with 31% COW. However, just 2 balls later the rains started and washed out the match saving England’s day. |
