Man of the Match : M Vijay Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur (9 May 2011)
cow-analysis

Vijay put behind his poor form as he and Hussey got CSK off to a great start and by the time Hussey got out, CSK was 84/1 after 10 with 55% COW. Vijay brought up his fifty in Raina’s company but his wicket brought MSD to the crease. 71 runs came off the last 6 overs as MSD and Raina tore apart the RR attack and helped CSK end with 196/3, their COW up to 63%. RR struggled to keep up with the required run rate and lost wickets as they stuttered to 70/4 after 10 with 23% COW. Rahane’s fighting fifty was never going to be enough in the face of the huge target as RR were bowled out for 133 to lose by 63 runs.

  1st Innings (CSK) - 20 overs Maximum

arrow 5 overs: CSK 47/0 CSK 54% An out of form Vijay meant that Hussey
upped the ante instead of playing his usual sheet anchor innings, poor fielding from Rajasthan did not help their cause. Chennai’s chances increased by 5% during this period.
arrow 10 overs: CSK 84/1 CSK 55% Botha picked up the important wicket of
Hussey but Vijay was finding his groove and Chennai were in a good position. Chennai’s chances increased by 1% during this period.
arrow 15 overs: CSK 136/2 CSK 59% Vijay might have perished to poor
running but not before both he and Raina smashed a ragged Rajasthan attack over the park. Chennai’s chances increased by 4% during this period.
arrow 20 overs: CSK 196/3 CSK 63% Maybe that should tell the Rajasthan
set up that you do not prepare pitches to suit the opposition and a blistering innings from Dhoni seemed to prove that point. Chennai’s chances increased by 4% during this period.

  2nd Innings (RR: Target 197) - 20 overs Maximum

arrow 5 overs: RR 38/1 RR 34% Rajasthan were finding the going tough
and their lack of in-form big-hitters was not helping them. Rajasthan’s chances decreased by 3% during this period.
arrow 10 overs: RR 70/4 RR 23% Rajasthan just did not have the players
for this situation, and when Taylor went it seemed like the ship has sunk. Rajasthan’s chances decreased by 11% during this period
arrow 15 overs: RR 113/5 RR 8% Rajasthan were not used to chasing high
totals and this major flaw in their gameplan was exploited to the full. Rajasthan’s chances decreased by 15% during this period.
arrow 20 overs: RR 133 RR 0% Yet another game where the losing team
plays for pride, don’t think Rajasthan would have got too much of that from this performance though. Chennai won by 63 runs
