This was a must win match for CSK as they needed a win to qualify while Warriors needed to ensure they didn’t lose too badly to edge Bushrangers out. With Hayden out of the squad, CSK got off to a comparatively slow start with just 33 runs in 5 overs but Hussey and Vijay picked up the pace as CSK reached 71/1 in 10 overs with a COW of 49%. However CSK failed to launch the assault needed for a big total as they struggled to 101/4 in 15 with COW down to 45% before some late hitting by MSD saw their total reach 136/6 with a COW of 42%. Warriors started off bright but a couple of quick wickets and tight bowling by spinners restricted them to 54/2 after 10 with their COW down to 49%. CSK kept the things tight but one big over saw Warriors COW rise to 53% but in the end the spinners did their job as Warriors ended up at 126/8 to lose by 10 runs.

CSK missed Hayden’s presence at the

top as they struggled to accelerate, scoring 33 runs in the first 5 overs but more importantly didn’t lose a wicket as their COW came down by 2%.

CSK did pick up 38 runs in the

following 5 overs but they lost the wicket of Vijay and their below par total at the half way mark meant that their COW came further down by 1% more.

15 Overs: CSK 101/4

This was a poor session for CSK

as they failed to accelerate with just 30 runs coming off the 5 overs and they lost 3 wickets in this period to bring their COW down by another 4%.

20 Overs: CSK 136/6

CSK’s struggle continued as they

failed to break away in the final 5 over and only a late assault by Dhoni was them score 35 runs for the loss of 2 wickets as their COW went down by another 3%.

5 Overs: WAR 30/1	WAR 55%	Warriors didn’t have the best of
		starts as they struggled against spin bowling to score just 30 runs and lose 1 wicket in their first 5 overs as their COW came down by 3% in this period.
10 Overs: WAR 54/2	WAR 49%	CSK spinners tightened the screws
		as Warriors batsmen scored just 24 runs in the next 5 overs and lost another wicket as the required run rate crossed 8 and their COW fell by 6%.
15 Overs: WAR 85/3	WAR 49%	CSK and Warriors maintained the status
		quo as 31 runs came off these 5 overs and one wicket fell as Warriors inched closer to their target but the RRR remained high and their COW remained unchanged.
20 Overs: WAR 126/8	CSK 100%	Requiring 52 runs off 5 overs to win,
		Warriors could muster only 41 runs and lost 5 wickets as they fell short by 10 runs but qualified for the semi-final by the virtue of their net run rate.
